Helen Flanagan addresses Coronation Street comeback after fans’ return ‘clue’

The actress is famed for playing Rosie Webster in the show from 2000 until her 2018 departure

Helen Flanagan has addressed a possible return to Coronation Street after fans spotted a ‘clue’ she could make a cobbles comeback. The actress is famed for playing Rosie Webster in the show from 2000 until her 2018 departure.

She has now revealed she’s keen to reprise her role “at some point” as the daughter of Weatherfield icons Kevin Webster and Sally Metcalfe, although she thinks returning in the near future would be too tricky for her youngest child, Charlie, who she shares with ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair.

Helen told OK!: “I would never say never when it comes to Corrie but the filming schedule for the ITV soap could be quite intense for my little boy at the moment. I’d love to return at some point.”

The former soap star added she was determined to return to acting, though emphasised she always has to prioritise her children before signing on to any jobs.

She explained: “I really want to get back into acting. I went for an audition the other day and I did get it, that’s really nice. I am a mummy so I always consider my children before I take jobs on.”

It comes after thoughts of a potential comeback started stirring after a seemingly innocuous scene in the episode aired on Friday (August 9). Tim Metcalfe, Rosie’s stepdad, was spotted sipping a pint in the Rovers Return and when asked what happened to his date with wife Sally, he mentioned it was off because she’d been engrossed in a marathon two-and-a-half-hour chat with Rosie.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan questioned: “2-hour phone call? What’s happened? Is she coming back?” Another said: “Rosie mention!! Hope she comes back!” A third asked: “Can’t we have Rosie back please?” While a fourth added: “Rosie mention! A return?”

Meanwhile, Helen is due to appear on Celebs Go Dating in an effort to find lasting love, though revealed she had previously been asked to star in the E4 show after she broke up with Scott, with whom she also shares daughters, Matilda and Delilah, in 2022.

She said: “I love the show and I was asked before when I had just split up with my ex-fiance but I wasn’t in the right mind space. I’ve been single for two years and I really wanted to do it.”
