“Funny stories and tall tales, heroes and villains, secrets and lies.”
Hollyoaks star Gregory Finnegan has announced that he’s releasing a book next month.
The actor, who plays fan favourite James Nightingale, has been busy writing The World According to Grog – which covers his time on the Channel 4 soap and wider acting career.
Gregory shared the news on social media at the weekend after teasing a big announcement for fans.
Speaking on Sunday evening, he explained: “For those of you who got in touch with me over the past 24 hours asking if I was about to announce that I’m leaving Hollyoaks, that is not the announcement!
“The announcement is that my book The World According to Grog is out on September 12.
“So if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work on a soap, what I think about the people I work with, how I got the job, and many other funny things besides you need a copy of this book.
“If you order it now, it will drop onto your mat on September 12, and for the first 750 of you who purchase the book, I will personally sign it. So in order to secure your signed copy, get ordering now.”
On Instagram, he added: “So excited to announce my new book… The World According to Grog! Funny stories and tall tales, heroes and villains, secrets and lies…! The book covers everything from Hollyoaks, relationships, auditions, much much more…!”

Gregory’s Hollyoaks co-stars past and present were quick to support him over the news. Eva O’Hara, who played Verity Hutchinson, posted a series of applause emojis in response to the Instagram post.
Owen Warner, who played James’ son Romeo, joked: “So gassed, can’t wait to read the chapter dedicated to me.”
Harvey Virdi, who plays Misbah Maalik, said: “I can’t wait.”
On screen in Hollyoaks, Gregory’s character James was left devastated last week as he discovered that his husband Ste Hay had cheated on him with village newcomer Rex.
A broken James has told Ste that their marriage is over, but viewers will have to stay tuned to see whether forgiveness is on the cards once the dust settles.
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
