Hollyoaks star Jessamy Stoddart reveals Liberty’s future after time jump

“She has a lot going on.”

Hollyoaks star Jessamy Stoddart has hinted at how her character Liberty Savage will be affected by the upcoming time jump.

The Channel 4 soap is lining up some unexpected new directions for the villagers this autumn as the on-screen action shifts forward by 12 months, marking the beginning of a new era.

Hollyoaks unleashes its one-year time jump in mid-September, one week after the annual autumn stunt.

Digital Spy recently caught up with Jessamy at Hollyoaks’ nominees photoshoot for the Inside Soap Awards 2024.

We were given exclusive video access to the shoot and you can see our full behind-the-scenes footage at the top of the page.

Speaking about the major September changes, Jessamy told Digital Spy: “It’s big having a time jump, I think! But I think it allows for a lot of cool storytelling.

“It’s like: ‘How have [those characters] ended up together?’ Or married or something! And then you get to reveal the story slowly, which I think is really cool.”

While Liberty will be staying single for the time being, she’ll be keeping busy thanks to plenty of family drama following the arrival of Patrick Blake’s villainous twin brother Jeremy.

Jessamy continued: “The Blake dynasty is going strong. There are more and more of us as we go along. There’s going to be some big reveals, big long-held secrets. Honestly, hold on to your hats.

“I was so glad that we were getting Jeremy [Sheffield, who plays Jeremy] back. I’d never worked with him before and I’d heard incredible things. It’s been absolutely brilliant working with Jeremy.

“The time jump for Liberty is very much family-based and kind of sunshine and rainbows – or is it? She has a lot going on, being part of the Blake sisters.”

Jessamy has been nominated for the Best Comic Performance prize at the Inside Soap Awards. She reappeared as Liberty at the start of the year after taking maternity leave in 2023.

Responding to the nomination, Jessamy added: “I’m really, really grateful. Just vote all things Hollyoaks because we’re brilliant!”
