EastEnders’ Johnny takes matters into his own hands as Linda hits rock bottom

Linda Carter’s alcoholism has spiralled in recent episodes as she’s become a victim of poison pen letters, but in forthcoming episodes, Johnny is forced to take control

Johnny Carter is set to take matters into his own hands in next weeks EastEnders episodes as Linda Carter struggles to stay sober.

The Queen Vic landlady, played by Kellie Bright, is currently being tormented by poison pen letters as Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) remains in prison for Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder at Christmas.

The mystery sender was revealed as Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) on Thursday (August 8) who has been working with Dean to blackmail Linda into retracting her statement, but she has been left terrified by the ordeal.

Linda’s upset continues next week after her alcoholism gets out of control, she finds herself in danger.

On Monday (August 12), Linda’s pre-trial meeting arrives but she’s struggling with her sobriety in the wake of more poison pen letters.

Meanwhile, at the prison, Bernie visits villainous Dean in prison where he demands that Bernie ups the ante with the letters to put pressure on Linda, so she starts sending texts too.

Linda is left rattled but soon realises whoever is sending the threats has her mobile number and tells her son Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) she’s not going to attend the meeting.

In a desperate bid to calm Linda enough to get her there, Johnny takes matters into his own hands, but how will get his terrified mum through her court meeting?

A prosecutor called Tamara soon starts quizzing tipsy Linda, but what will she say?

The next day, Linda has been drinking all night and Johnny is at a loss of how to help her.

Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) tells him to use his legal skills to help his mum and she’ll look after Linda.

But when lawyer Johnny returns to The Vic, a massive row breaks out between him and Linda.

Later, Johnny calms down from the confrontation with his mum, but when he arrives home – he finds Linda in a life-threatening situation. Will Linda survive?

EastEnders airs on Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One
