Special episode

Emmerdale’s young medical student Jacob Gallagher, portrayed by Joe Warren Plant, is set to experience the high-stakes world of a busy A&E department in an upcoming special hour-long episode this January on ITV.

Moira’s recovery

Natalie J Robb has discussed the impact her character’s ongoing treatment, following brain surgery, might have on Moira. Speaking at a recent Emmerdale press event, she said: “There could be some slight changes. It could be that she just deals with things differently because she’s been faced with such an ordeal.

“She might not (now) react in the same way. In some ways, leaving people leaving more unnerved, if she didn’t react. So, I don’t know if there are going to be some changes. I think, if nothing, on reflection, she’d choose to deal with things a little differently as life is so precious and it was nearly taken away from her.”

Belle’s quest for justice

Emmerdale viewers know Tom King finally got what he deserved for his treatment of Belle. But, understandably, the impact of his abuse will haunt Belle for some time to come in scenes we can expect to see explored in the coming months.

Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle, explained: “I don’t think there will be an end point to that journey or that healing. Speaking to the producers and the research team, everyone is so passionate that this story doesn’t end when this side (Tom finally being punished) of the story ends. There’s a whole other world to explore there.

“I guess this is the side you don’t often see – the aftermath and the healing. I’m really proud that’s something they are so focused on.” Eden said that pet dog Piper, who returned after being feared dead, will be an essential part of Belle’s 2025.

“100 per cent, I think Piper will be a part of that journey,” Eden stressed. “Piper is everything to her and, I do think in a way, she’s saved her from this situation. I guess it is her little therapy dog.”

Elaborating further on what Emmerdale viewers will see from Belle in 2025, Eden said: “I think justice would be the main thing that she wants and probably to just fully understand what she has gone through and start the journey of healing. Understanding and accepting that this is not on her and this is not her fault. She did not create this.”

Eden added: “To get her life back on track (is the 2025 aim). Obviously, Tom stopped her working so she has nothing really. I think she needs to start from scratch and build herself back up again.”

An unlikely bromance

In recent weeks, Ross Barton and Marlon Dingle have shared some pretty intense scenes with there being lots of history between the two characters. Addressing the recent return of Mike Parr, who plays Ross, Mark said: “What is lucky for me is that I get to work with Mike Parr who I just love working with. He’s a terrific actor to work with – a very generous actor.”

Mark said that despite the issues between Marlon and Ross he feels there’s a ‘connection’ between them which he’d like to see explored in 2025.

Daisy Campbell, 21, has played Amelia Spencer in Emmerdale since 2011 with the acting star growing up on the ITV soap. As we’ve previously reported, Emmerdale bosses felt the time was right for Amelia to leave the village.

Appearing at an Emmerdale press event, at the show’s Leeds base, Daisy admitted her exit came with ‘mixed emotions’ with her now looking to the future. She said: “It has been a tough year and I’ve had to deal with so much but I was so at peace (when she filmed her character Amelia’s exit). I’m not only leaving for myself, it is a character that I’ve always played and it was my first ever job.

“It felt really sad but it was nice to close the door and be at peace – allowing it to play out as it has this year. It is really upsetting as it is all I’ve ever known.” Daisy stated she’s excited about what comes next in her career.

Asked what her plans are, Daisy replied: “To carry on with my acting. From being here as a kid, you fall into this and then when I turned 13, I knew this was something that I really wanted to do. Since I’ve found out I was leaving, my determination for acting is just so much more now. There’s so much I want to do. It is the perfect age as I have no responsibilities. I can do what I want.

“I’m really excited to see what comes my way and see what opportunities arise – it should be good. I just need a challenge. I just want to see what I’m like on another set. I don’t know what that is like. This is all I’ve ever known. This will be the year, next year, to really push myself which I’m looking forward to.”

Away from acting, Daisy isn’t against some reality TV stints with a particular BBC sparkly ballroom being in her sights. Daisy was adamant she would love to compete in next year’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

Daisy said: “I really want to do Strictly. That’s one thing I really want to do next year as I’m a dancer. I’ve always danced, I’ve danced since I was three. I don’t know how to do the salsa but would love to learn.

“I would never say no to a job. I’m really open to doing anything. I’d love to do plays, I’d love to tour. Do dramas, films, low budget stuff, literally anything. I just feel like the world is my oyster. I’ve never known anything different so I want to see how everything else works.”

Natalie J Robb’s new Buddy

At the start of November, Natalie welcomed a new pet dog to her home. The Emmerdale fave rescued Spanish mastin Buddy from his native country.

“I got a new delivery of a six-month-old puppy that I rescued from Spain. He arrived at 3.30am this morning,” Natalie explained. “He’s called Buddy and, if anything, he’s my Christmas present to myself. He’s a Spanish mastin. He’s really tall, he’s like Bambi. He’s got beautiful black eyeliner, and I think ‘wow, Buddy how have you done your eyes so perfectly?’.

“He’s got beautiful eyes and he’s like a dog on stilts at the minute. He arrived all frightened and within two minutes he was cuddling.

“So, I’m going to be spending the new year with him. I was talking with my mum that we might take him away somewhere. Then I thought ‘you know what, we’ll just take him for lovely walks’.”

Moira star Natalie will likely have a rather fun 2025 ahead.

Star looks set to leave

As we’ve previously reported, Emmerdale fans will likely be saying goodbye to Paula Lane in 2025. She plays Ella Forster and during her brief stint in Emmerdale, Paula’s character has had a whirlwind story arch, from her arrival as the fiery receptionist Ella to becoming friends with Mandy Dingle and falling for Dr Liam Cavanagh.

There was then the shock of discovering Ella was responsible for the death of a childhood friend. The impending exit was revealed on a talent Spotlight page shared by Paula, 38, on her Instagram bio. Stating that she will finish filming with Emmerdale in February 2025.

We’ll bring you more on Paula’s expected exit when we have further details.

Making up for lost time

Will Ash has spoken about his character Caleb’s eagerness to make up for lost time with estranged daughter Steph who has recently arrived in the village. Addressing this, Will said: “He’s also messed up his relationship with (son) Nicky. It is the other child and he can rebuild things.”

Don’t expect any New Year’s resolutions…

At least not from Mark Charnock. The Marlon Dingle star had his blunt say on that tradition when he recently met with the press.

“I have never understood it. I know I won’t stick to them. It always seems to me that I could make a resolution from September 5 – do you know what I mean?

“I never quite understood and people rarely stick to them. It just seems to me a waste of a promise to yourself which is the worst promise.”

Well, there’s still hope for the Marlon and Ross storyline, that we mentioned earlier, at least…
