Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) is reportedly returning to Coronation Street.
The troublesome character, who is the brother of Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), is currently in prison after being sentenced in March.
The former drug dealer seemed to have made a new image for himself after returning to Weatherfield last year to reconcile with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).
Having changed his ways after forcing innocent son Jacob (Jack James Ryan) out of the area, he made a promise to his new girlfriend that he would focus on building a future with her and son Harry.
However, when Sarah’s estranged husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) began to twist the knife, things were always going to end badly. Teaming up with killer Harvey, the solicitor planned to get rid of his enemy from the cobbles forever, but the plan backfired.
In an act of damage control, and to guarantee Sarah’s protection, Damon agreed to take part in an armed robbery for his brother but was ultimately arrested.
A few months ago, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) delivered the devastating news that he’d been sent down for 6 years.
Following his departure, Ciaran made his way back to Australia, where he lives with his wife and son.
Now though, it’s being reported Ciaran has been spotted at Media City in Manchester, where Coronation Street is filmed.
‘Ciaran has been spotted on set in recent days – which will be a shock to fans because when he left the show, he went back to Australia’, a source told The Sun.
‘The actor returns to filming whenever the show needs to see him in prison. Because his character was sentenced to six years behind bars, that means it’s likely one unlucky cobbles resident is going to end up in prison – as Damon isn’t getting out any day soon.’
Life has been considerably quieter for Sarah ever since Damon’s departure. She has largely been on hand to support daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon), who went on a mission to find out who had stolen her old company credit card.
An upcoming story will soon see Bethany become increasingly insecure about her appearance and decide to jet off abroad for surgery.
A source told Metro.co.uk: ‘This is a huge story for Bethany, and viewers will see her travel to a foreign clinic for cosmetic surgery. As with a lot of these unregulated procedures, it doesn’t exactly go to plan.’
Cosmetic tourism has hit the headlines in recent years with boob jobs, gastric bands, facelifts and ‘Turkey teeth’ surgeries becoming popular amongst Brits, who find it cheaper than paying privately in the UK.
The NHS website advises ‘weighing up potential savings against the potential risks’ as ‘safety standards may not be as high.’
