Amy makes a worrying decision about her inheritance.
Coronation Street’s Aadi Alahan will open up to Amy Barlow next week about his worries over her growing involvement in The Institute.
As Leanne Battersby has grown more and more involved in the cult, she has started sharing her beliefs with other Weatherfield residents, including Amy.
With Amy having started watching the cult’s videos and attending their events, she is becoming increasingly affected by their influence.
In scenes airing next week, Amy informs a delighted Leanne that she’s planning to invest her inheritance from grandmother Deirdre into The Institute’s new resource centre.
However, Amy adds that she will need to get her use of the money approved by her grandfather Ken.
When Aadi discovers Amy speaking about her plans to a member of The Institute, he heads over to find out more – urging her to consider what she might be risking by investing Deirdre’s money in the organisation.
Will Amy take Aadi’s words on board, or could sinister cult leader Rowan Cunliffe be about to cause yet more misery for Weatherfield’s residents?
This isn’t the only drama that Amy will face next week, as her mum Tracy McDonald also makes an unexpected return from Spain after five months abroad with her new boyfriend Tommy Orpington.
Amy and Aadi shared a kiss last year but soon decided that they would be better off as friends for the time being, with their romantic connection having not been explored since.
Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy, spoke about a possible relationship between Amy and Aadi at the time, saying that “we’re all rooting for them because everyone can see that they’ve got a great friendship”.
She added: “Everyone wants them to get together, but whether or not it’s the right time for Amy, is another question.”
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, August 12.
