EastEnders favourite Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) has been left gobsmacked by first love Ayesha Siddhu’s (Laila Rouass) arrival in Albert Square.
Terminally ill Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) reached out to Ayesha in the hope that she would accept his apology for killing her husband Hardeep over 20 years ago.
It soon became clear that he had ulterior motive, and intended to demonise his ex-wife when Ayesha learnt the truth behind the death.
After rushing out of Walford East, Suki raced after her and admitted that Nish became suspicious of the amount of time that she had spent at their house – and assuming that she was having an affair with Hardeep, killed him out of jealousy.
A huge admission soon followed… it was actually Ayesha that she had developed feelings for.
When she was reluctant to forgive, Nish exacted his next plan, to shut down Suki’s relationship with Eve Unwin (Heather Peace).
But where have you seen actress Laila Rouass before? She’s no stranger to our screens, and Metro.co.uk has the details…
Where have we seen Laila Rouass before?
EastEnders is Laila’s fifth soap role. In 2001, she played Tanya Ayuba in two episodes of Channel 5 continuing drama Family Affairs.
She’s played two roles in Casualty: Mandy Kellaway in 2002, and Gina Marshall in 2006. Following that she played regular role Sahira Shah in sister show Holby City.
In 2003, she was introduced as feisty DCI Dale Jackson, a police officer who began investigating a series of murders in Hollyoaks. The serial killer was Toby Mills (Henry Luxemburg), who took the lives of 10 women and tried to take Steph Dean’s (Carley Stenson) life on a number of occasions.
Dale was invited to move in with her colleague and boyfriend Will Davies (Barny Clevely), and before long slept with his son Ben (Marcus Patric).
After an explosive argument between father and son, Ben was thrown out. But her time in the village didn’t last very long when she was fired by the commissioner, and decided to leave.
Following that she played Amber Gates in Footballers’ Wives, and had roles in sci-fi series Primeval and Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures.
In 2009, she was paired with Anton Du Beke in the seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing. She made it to the final four before being voted off.
She also starred alongside Elizabeth Hurley as the Deputy Prime Minister Rani in E!’s The Royals between 2015 and 2016.
