The actor may be famed for having played Kirk Sutherland in the ITV soap but there’s another role he may be known for
Coronation Street star Andy Whyment has left some fans ‘feeling old’ as they rushed to respond to news of a reunion. The actor may be famed for having played Kirk Sutherland in the ITV soap for more than 20 years, but there’s one particular role he’s also known for.
Before becoming a regular on the famous street back in 2000, Andy was probably known for appearing as Darren Sinclair-Jones in the much-loved BBC hit sitcom The Royle Family.
Over the weekend, Andy revealed he’d enjoyed a reunion with Ralf Little, who famously played Antony Royle in the much-loved BBC sitcom, which ran for three series from 1998 to 2000, and specials from 2006 to 2012.
Having both taken part in a charity football match, the pair posed for a smiling selfie which Andy delightfully shared on social media with his 382,000 Instagram followers.
Alongside the snap, the soap star wrote: “Nice to catch up with @ralf.little @jet2pics AllStars charity game at Monton Football Club, can’t believe. It’s been 25 years since we first met filming The Royle Family time really does fly!”
After sharing the post, his fans and followers were quick to respond. @lee_ablett1974 said: “Yes!! Darren and Anthony!!!” @cianbanahan15 commented: “Two legends.” @oshman_81 echoed: “Love this! Two legends.” @cazlancs laughed: “NOW I feel old Andy, thanks.”
