Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) takes worrying action to protect himself against Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan) in Coronation Street next week.
The teenager has been terrified since Mason was released from prison last month, and forthcoming scenes see Dylan grow increasingly anxious as Mason worms his way back into the local community.
The week begins with Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) spotting Mason stealing food, taking pity on him by offering him a bed at No 6. and a job as a potwasher at Speed Daal.
Stu’s offer proves to be very unpopular with the locals, and Dylan’s worries are made worse when Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) warns him he’d better not mess with Mason, as he’ll have access to very sharp knives while working in the restaurant.
With Dylan’s fear of Mason evident, his dad Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) resolves to sort it out and barges into Speed Daal to confront Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) and Stu for employing Mason.
Meanwhile, Betsy admits to Mason that she told Dylan that he carries a knife. Annoyed, Mason asserts he can fight his own battles.
But when Dylan later spots Mason in the precinct, a confrontation looks like it’s brewing – will he end up getting hurt?
Actor Luca Toolan previously promised fans would discover more layers to Mason following his return, with his backstory further explored.
‘You’re going to see a different side to Mason,’ he told us exclusively on the red carpet at the Radio Times Soap Awards. ‘You might get to see a bit more of the three dimensional and see why he’s the way he is.
‘We’re going to see family situations, dynamics, jobs, careers, friendships. Just rounding him out as a person,’ Luca added.
Has Mason really changed?
Coronation Street airs these scenes from Monday 5 August at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
