Coronation Street revealed Kevin Webster’s young son Jack Webster caused the fire at Stefan Brent’s office building but what does this mean for the youngster?
Coronation Street will air the aftermath of Jack Webster’s bombshell on Friday night.
Soap watchers will recall that Kevin and Abi Webster have been embroiled in a feud with Stefan Brent for years. Stefan’s son, Corey Brent, murdered Abi’s son Seb Franklin in 2021 as part of a hard-hitting hate-crime storyline.
Only recently, Abi reported Stefan to the police for creating deepfake videos of her in a traumatising ordeal for the cobbles mechanic but there was little the police could do. Abi is convinced Stefan created the deepfakes in revenge for her boycotting a documentary, which painted Corey as a hero amongst his prison football team, as Stefan’s production company were responsible for the documentary.
Only recently, Kevin broke into Stefan’s office to obtain evidence that he was behind the deepfakes, stealing a burner phone in the process. After coming to a deal, Stefan agreed to pay to take down the videos, but after learning it would cost £60k annually, he backed out leaving Abi and Kevin at square one.
Things have gone from bad to worse for the couple as they learnt that Kevin’s son, Jack, has been teased about the videos at school. On Monday night, Stefan phoned Kevin and requested a meeting so they can put an end to their feud. However, it was all part of Stefan’s plan as while Kevin was out, Jack innocently answered the door to Stefan, unaware of who he was, and he let him wait until his parents were home.
Stefan managed to send Jack out for milk so he could have a cup of tea and whilst alone, he rummaged through the drawers of the Webster’s empty home. Later, Abi and Kevin returned home, puzzled by Stefan’s no show but when Jack revealed a man called round, they realised Stefan hoodwinked them to get them out of the way and steal back his mobile phone.
Later, PC Craig Tinker was forced to arrest Kevin on suspicion of burglary of Stefan’s property. Arriving home, Kevin told his family that he had no choice but to hold his hands up to the charge and has a plea hearing next week. The episode ended with Abi, who had gone out, returning home to find Kevin watching an online news report of a fire at Stefan’s office building and she bitterly claimed he had it coming.
On Wednesday night, the police began investigating the blaze as arson, and Abi and her partner Kevin were both under suspicion due to their recent run-ins with Stefan. However, it was Kevin’s young son Jack who set the fire, with him tearfully confessing to stepmother Abi. He explained that after Stefan’s treatment towards Abi and Kevin, and him targeting him too, he wanted to make him pay.

Jack claimed he had set fire to the car to trash it, wanting to get back at him. What he didn’t expect to happen was for the blaze to spread to the office building, with Stefan inside at the time. As Jack feared the police would accuse him of attempting to murder the businessman, he confessed all to Abi and eventually Kevin too. Kevin was mortified by his son’s actions, and shouted at him as Abi tried to help.
Abi vowed to be there for Jack and sort things out, not wanting him to get into trouble. But worried for his son and whether he’d be sent to prison, Kevin went behind Abi’s back and decided to tell the police he was the one behind the fire. Abi couldn’t stop him as he raced to the police station to make a statement, telling DS Swain that he started the fire and should be arrested. But with Jack soon caught could he be sent to prison, leading to an exit twist?
There has been no reports of Jack actor Kyran Bowes, who has been on the ITV soap since 2016, leaving the cobbles and spoilers for next week include the youngster. In upcoming scenes, Hope Stape dumps Sam Blakeman as she’s much more interested in Jack, leaving her mother Fiz Stape despairing over her daughter’s behaviour.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
