Emmerdale fans are convinced John Sugden is playing Aaron Dingle and they’ve suggested a dark theory about what his real plan could be
Emmerdale viewers are convinced that newcomer John Sugden is deceiving Aaron Dingle, and they suspect it’s a storyline headed for trouble.
Oliver Farnworth, who plays John, has intrigued viewers since his recent arrival in the village, portraying the man claiming to be the long-lost son of beloved character Jack Sugden (as played by Clive Hornby). Quickly, he made a memorable impact on local life in Emmerdale.
Since arriving, John has woven himself into the fabric of the Dales. He initiated an unexpected romantic connection with Aaron Dingle (portrayed by Danny Miller), a surprising twist given Aaron’s history with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), who is John’s alleged brother. He’s also taken time to familiarize with distant relatives, like his sister Victoria (acted by Isabel Hodgins).
Nevertheless, details about John’s backstory remain scarce, leaving fans questioning his ‘true’ intentions. It’s known that he’s an army veteran with a deeply significant relationship with someone named Aidan Moore, a bond so profound that John keeps dog tags bearing Aidan’s namea discovery that led to a fiery reaction when Victoria stumbled upon them, reports Leeds Live.
This intrigue deepened this week with a supposed confession from John regarding Aidan’s fate, though viewers are sceptical about its truth. The plot thickens as John took Aaron off on a seemingly innocent winter camping trip earlier in the week. Amidst the backdrop of the secluded woods, John chose this moment to divulge information about Aidan, coinciding with what would have been Aidans birthday.
According to John, they served together, and despite ambiguous mentions, he implied a tragic ending for Aidan, one that he couldn’t prevent. John poignantly expressed, “Aidan was the first person I ever felt anything for, anything meaningful.”
He further stated: “I tried to bury everything I felt about him until it destroyed me from the inside. It hasn’t gone, put it that way.” Despite this, Emmerdale fans are sceptical about John’s honesty towards Aaron.
On a fan page dedicated to Emmerdale on Facebook, one viewer questioned: “Anyone else think John is lying? l Someone else wrote: ” Another added: “I’m thinking that and he’s playing Aaron.”
A third fan speculated: “Definitely, I liked the theory that he could know Robert from prison and is trying to hurt Aaron.” A fourth commented: “Yeah something is still not right. I don’t trust him and Aaron is letting his guard down far too easily.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
