Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks has revealed all on an ongoing love triangle, and a ‘mistake’ that could cost Daniel Osbourne everything on the ITV soap
There’s trouble ahead on Coronation Street, amid Daniel Osbourne being torn between two women in true Barlow fashion on the ITV soap.
The character’s “mistake” could come back to haunt him, while the character has made a number of bad decisions recently. But what’s worse is he’s claiming to love Bethany Platt, even preparing to propose to her, having just slept with his ex fiancée Daisy Midgeley.
After an almighty row with Bethany recently, Daniel stormed out and his feud with Debbie Webster led to him crashing her car. Fearing for his future, he was stunned when ex Daisy saw what he’d done and offered to help him.
Of course that backfired after she torched the car only for the police to find it, not to mention her nearly running over Shona Platt. Daniel was furious with Daisy, but not before the pair kissed and one thing led to another.
After sleeping together, Daisy believed they were reuniting and warned him Bethany might take it badly following her recent botched surgery ordeal. Daniel panicked and realised he could not leave Bethany, so when he found out what Daisy had done with the car he declared they had to keep their moment of passion a secret.
Daisy was obviously devastated, but it doesn’t end there it seems. The love triangle is set to continue, and at some point Daniel’s mistakes will come back to haunt him.

Speaking to The Mirror about what’s ahead, Corrie producer Kate Brooks told us: “Yes, so obviously they’ve been circling each other for a while, that love triangle is brilliant, it’s a love triangle that keeps on giving and we will certainly carry that through through December and into the new year.
“Daniel is in love with two women, that’s what it boils down to, he loves Bethany but he also loves Daisy, and not many people can pull that of, but if anyone can, a Barlow can, and he is absolutely torn over what to do for the best, and it’s ultimately his head over his heart.
“But he wants to be with Bethany, he wants to channel his love and his future with Bethany, but sometimes when you make a little mistake, things can come back and bite them on the bums, so that’s essentially what we’re doing with that triangle. For me, the rivalry between Daisy and Bethany is fantastic, it’s so fun to watch, again, feels nice and soapy which I think is what we want to do with that story.
“Obviously, there’s other issue-led stories around it and everything but for me that love triangle, that dynamic, is going to be super interesting, super exciting as we wonder what the heck Daniel is going to do and how does he ever get out of those holes that he finds himself in constantly.
“So lots of relationship drama and you know what I love about it as well, there’s no good guys or bad guys in it, it’s just these three people have found themselves in this situation and they just want to find their own happiness, but obviously sometimes when you find the happiness, it comes at a cost.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
