Coronation Street viewers think they know who’s really driving the van that Chesney Brown is convinced is stalking him, and if correct then it’s a familiar face
There’s a new theory about the mystery van driver tormenting Chesney Brown on Coronation Street.
Fans have now started to suspect it’s all linked to the recent death of Les Battersby. There’s something not quite right surrounding his death, and Chesney is keen to solve it.
Les’ family including stepson Chesney were informed of his death recently, with it revealed he had died at work. But the company where he worked shocked them all with the offer of a compensation payout, initially £50,000 before upping it to £60,000 when they held off agreeing.
No new details were shared on what happened and how he died, with the company refusing to divulge on the accident that killed him. That said, a colleague of his showed up to the wake with some worrying claims for Chesney.
The man claimed whatever the company had told them was a lie, and that someone was bound to be injured or killed sooner or later. He insinuated the workplace was dangerous while he didn’t go into detail about Les’ death.
All he said was that they should ignore any claims that Les was drunk at work and that this led to his demise. Chesney was more sure than ever that the company were covering up how Les really died.

In scenes to air soon Chesney will be urged to take the money once more. Those who accept the payment must sign an NDA though, so will Chesney go ahead with it?
Amid all this, Chesney has found himself being ‘followed’ by a man in a silver van. After Chesney blocked them in at the car park recently, his car was scraped.
Then seemingly the same van sped outside his house before almost knocking him over, narrowly missing his car. Chesney later spotted what he believed to be the same van on the street days later, and spoilers for upcoming episodes confirm he tracks it down once more – with a showdown teased.
But who is the driver and what do they want with Chesney? Fans are speculating it’s linked to Les and possibly the man at the wake. While it’s unlikely to be Les himself given actor Bruce Jones’ reaction to his character being killed off, some fans can’t help but wonder if it’s all been a huge red herring and whether it’s Les himself and he’s actually still alive.
Taking to X, one fan said: “Hang on. They had the will before the funeral? You’re right this doesn’t make any sense. Are we sure Les isn’t van man?” Another agreed: “Yes, I’ve been wondering if Les is actually dead,” as a third said: “If that old bloke wasn’t the bloke in the van following Chesney I think it could have been Les and he’s not dead?”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
