Coronation Street fans ‘rumble’ DNA bombshell as Frankie’s real father ‘revealed’

Coronation Street viewers think a DNA bombshell will be exposed amid baby Frankie’s hospital dash, and Joel Deering might not be his real father on the ITV soap

A new theory could see a DNA bombshell hit Coronation Street in the coming days.

Amid a concerning new storyline involving Lauren Bolton’s baby son Frankie, as well as his grandparents trying to take him from her, there could be a paternity twist. With a possible health storyline on the cards, fans are wondering if Joel Deering really is Frankie’s biological father after all.

Lauren had been attacked earlier this year by violent Joel, who had coerced her into a sexual relationship. When she returned to the show in the summer, initially feared dead, it was confirmed she was pregnant with Joel’s baby.

After Joel tried to kill her unborn child by drugging Lauren, she went into premature labour and Frankie was born with a number of health issues. Only recently was he released from hospital, but Lauren is now in prison after murdering Joel.

It was self-defence as he tried to kill her partner Max Turner. Lauren is hoping to keep custody of baby Frankie in a mother and baby unit, with Max on standby to also care for the little one.

But this week we saw Joel’s parents Anthea and Gus show up, and when they found out Frankie’s identity they begged Max to let them see him. Feigning sympathy for Lauren, their real intentions were soon exposed when they fled with Frankie, and later told Max they planned to get custody.

But things took a turn when Frankie was rushed to hospital with bruising found on his body. Max faced accusations from Gus and Anthea, but Lauren soon learned from doctors that something could be wrong with her son, with more tests needed.

Amid a diagnosis being revealed, viewers are predicting a major DNA twist is on the way. If there is something wrong with Frankie medically, there’s every chance he may need treatment or a transplant from a family member.

Viewers believe that this could be the moment that it emerges Joel is not really the biological father of Frankie, and that another character is his real dad. While this hasn’t been suggested by the show or spoilers, fans can’t help but speculate it will stop Anthea and Gus stealing the tot, and that Frankie’s father will be identified via testing.

Taking to social media, one fan posted: “We all know after a DNA that Joel is not even going to be the father of Frankie.” Another said: “Agreed very predictable,” as a third fan posted: “If it’s true it will probably be Max.”

Another comment read: “Frankie’s ill and will need bone marrow and once they start looking for a donor, they’ll realise the real kicker – that the kid ain’t Joel’s – his dad is Carla’s nephew [Bobby].” A fifth fan said: “They’re not the grandparents of Frankie, DNA test will prove it,” and a sixth said: “It’s Max.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
