Coronation Street viewers have shared their theories on whether Gail Platt’s fiancé Jesse Chadwick is secretly plotting against the Platts ahead of the couple’s planned departure
Some Coronation Street fans are convinced Jesse Chadwick is up to something, and that Gail Platt is set for heartache.
Recent scenes showed Jesse trying to win over the Platts amid his plan to marry Gail on Christmas Day. Gail is leaving the show in the episode after 50 years, following Helen Worth quitting the ITV soap role.
Gail has decided to move away with her new man Jesse after rekindling things, with Jesse keen to get the Platts onside. But in a recent episode, fans were suspicious by how far he was prepared to go to help Gail’s son David Platt.
Jesse recently found out David was the one who stole Damon Hay’s robbery cash, hidden in a lock-up. Jesse agreed to keep the secret and also offered to help him dispose of the cash.
This week as Jesse and David prepared to launder the remaining money, Jesse had a big offer for his new stepson. He claimed he could do with some instant cash due to the place he and Gail are planning to move in to needing some work.
After their cover was nearly blown, the pair had no alternative but to remove the notes from the house. So Jesse offered to take the cash and repay the money with his divorce settlement, sending it to David via a bank transfer.

While the payment appeared to be completed, some fans were convinced it wasn’t what it seemed. Some viewers believe Jesse took the cash and in an upcoming episode will flee.
So will Gail face heartache on her wedding day, and is Jesse really conning the family? Viewers can’t help but speculate Gail’s mother Audrey Roberts is right to suspect Jesse is up to no good.
One viewer said: “Is Jesse gonna do a runner with the [money]? He’s dodgy, so it wouldn’t surprise me.” Another said: “Jesse’s doing a runner,” as a third added: “Nice win for Jesse!”
A fourth viewer commented: “Has Jesse gone and [thieved] all of David’s money and he ain’t coming back???? ‘We’re moving to the south of France……I’ll help you out….my house is in a bit of bother’ my eye!!!”
The comments kept on coming too, with fans unable to shake the theory that Jesse was up to no good. A theory read: “Is Jesse going to disappear now he’s got his hands on the money…? Or are they committed to a Christmas Day wedding?” Another said: “That’s Jesse scamming the Platt’s then.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
