Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle could be set for a shock family bombshell as fans have ‘rumbled’ her real mum in a game-changing twist
Emmerdale fans are certain they have ‘worked out’ Belle Dingle’s real mum – and it’s not Lisa.
Born on Christmas Day in 1998, Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) is one of the soap’s beloved characters. As the daughter of Zak (Steve Halliwell) and Lisa (Jane Cox), Belle has played a part in several big storylines over the years.
Especially at the moment, as fans will recall how for the past year and a half, she has been involved in a domestic abuse storyline. Viewers have watched in horror as husband Tom King (James Chase) made Belle’s life hell, gaslighting her and controlling her every move.
One incident saw Belle attack Tom with an axe in self-defence, and despite being hesitant at first, Belle reported Tom to the police for his abuse over the past year.
Although he was able to get away with it, justice finally came calling for Tom in November. Despite being arrested and charged, Tom later decided to go on the run and flee the country.
He soon got what was coming to him though, as the cops were able to track him down. Tom is now locked up behind bars, with his trial due to take place later this month.
What’s more, Belle’s mental health has spiralled amid the ordeal, but following Tom’s imprisonment, she is determined to finally do what it takes to bring him down in court.
However, in what would be a game-changing twist, viewers reckon Belle’s mum isn’t actually Lisa – who sadly died in May 2019. Sharing their thoughts online, fans reckon it could be soap legend Kim Tate (Claire King).
On a Reddit thread, one person mused: “Is Kim Tate Belle’s mother. Lisa claimed she didn’t know she was pregnant so could she have been telling porkies that Belle is her daughter. She could be Kim Tate’s and perhaps Zak is her biological father but it could be anyone really.”
Fans soon chimed in to share their thoughts, with one person pointing out how viewers saw Lisa give birth on-screen in 1998. Another person shut this down though.
They wrote: “They could easily do an Easties and write in a baby swap storyline”, referencing EastEnders controversial baby swap twist in 2010. A third agreed: “Stranger things have happened.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
