Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who David Platt’s new love interest will be, following his wife Shona’s betrayal
Coronation Street fans reckon they’ve figured out who David Platt’s new romantic interest could be, and it’s an unexpected resident of the cobbles. Last week on the famous street, David’s wife Shona (played by Julia Goulding) was unfaithful to him with police officer Kit Green (portrayed by Jacob Roberts). Fans will remember that over the past month, David has been manipulating and deceiving Shona in an attempt to prevent her from seeing her son Clayton (Callum Harrison).
Clayton, who killed David’s previous wife Kylie (Paula Lane) back in 2016, tried to contact Shona from prison. However, David swiftly intervened, disposing of letters and erasing emails sent to her. Shona eventually discovered the truth and was livid. A heated argument between David and Shona followed, but Shona ended up being arrested for assaulting a prison governor earlier in the day.
After being questioned by Kit, Shona was released and instead of returning home, she decided to hit the town. The next day, however, it was evident that Shona was concealing a significant secret, reports Lancs Live. By the end of the episode, it was revealed that Shona had slept with Kit.

Shona has since promised to keep their encounter a secret, but during Monday’s episode (9th December), she returned to his hotel room. In the end, Shona decided not to sleep with Kit again at the last minute – a decision which Kit respected before letting her leave.
Corrie enthusiasts are buzzing with speculation that David Platt could be set for a new romantic twist following Shona’s secret tryst with Kit. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan group, one viewer suggested: “It’s about time Shona got a juicy storyline but I don’t want her and David to split.” In the comments, fans were quick to theorise who might catch David’s eye next. One fan speculated: “I could just see David and Daisy together.” While another chimed in: “I’ve always thought this.”

Daisy Midgeley, played by Charlotte Jordan, has been stirring things up on the cobbles since her arrival in 2020 as Jenny Connor’s stepdaughter, portrayed by Sally Ann Matthews. She’s become a firm favourite among viewers, having been central to several major plots, including a chilling acid attack.
Jack P. Shepherd, who brings David to life on the screen, shared his insights with Plymouth Live on how his character might respond upon discovering Shona’s indiscretion with Kit. Jack revealed: “I think he will react in a way where he’ll have to try and get his own back somehow. And he’ll have to try and do it in a clever way. He won’t be able to take him on physically, it will have to be something sort of mentally I’d have thought. He’ll do something to f**k his life up somehow.”
