Coronation Street’s Tony Maudsley supports former co-star as they’re unrecognisable in new role

The George Shuttleworth actor has proven once again to be a supportive castmate to his co-stars both past and present

Coronation Street star Tony Maudsley has proven once again to be a supportive castmate to his co-stars both past and present as after recently supporting Alan Halsall’s efforts in the jungle, he’s also been supporting his former colleague’s new role.

As fans of the ITV soap may be aware, Alan, who is famed for playing Weatherfield’s Tyrone Dobbs, is currently taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

And as the vote opened for fans to save their favourite campmates from being eliminated, Tony took to social media to share his support for Alan. On Instagram, the George Shuttleworth actor shared: “Vote for our @coronationstreet buddy & all round good egg & gentleman @alanhalsall to stay in the jungle! How many other lifetime vegetarians do you know who’d take mouthfuls of meaty testicle to win points for their team? What a trooper! (and before you start I’m NOT a vegetarian) #ImACeleb.”

Tony has since shared his support much closer to home as he headed to watch Emrhys Cooper in his new panto role. Corrie fans will know Emrhys joined the soap back in March as Institute mentor Rowan Cunliffe.

However, he hadn’t been seen on the cobbles for months but during Monday’s (December 2) trip to Weatherfield, Leanne was seen in court as Rowan was finally questioned over his involvement with Leanne, Amy Barlow and The Institute. After Amy and Nick had taken to the stand, it was Leanne’s turn and after she was harshly quizzed by the defence barrister, Rowan smirked, provoking Leanne into a furious rant about how he had ruined her life.

But Rowan responded and insisted that Leanne had created her own problems. Later, Leanne, Nick, Amy and Toyah got news of the court’s verdict and were later celebrating the update in the Rovers Return.

While his Corrie exit aired, Emrhys was busy getting into his next role as he plays Prince Frederick in the Snow White pantomime at St Helens Theatre Royal in Merseyside. Sharing a picture from the show, Tony revealed he’d been to watch his former co-star in his unrecognisbale role compared to the calculated Rowan.

He shared on Instagram: “Had a wonderful night at St Helen’s Theatre Royal watching our Corrie buddy @emrhyscooper donning his tights as Prince Frederick of Corrieville, in a cracking production of SNOW WHITE & THE SEVEN DWARVES!! They’re on till 12th January so grab a ticket and treat yourselves to a wicked night out!! OH YES YOU WILL!!!!”
