Justice caught up with Emmerdale’s Tom King (James Chase) and saw him finally get charged, but for a man who loves control, a little thing like prison won’t stop him.
Tom was flummoxed when DS Foy cornered him with evidence of his guilt from the tablet he thought he’d destroyed, and all of a sudden smirking Tom found himself behind bars – and no longer smirking.
But even being faced with unequivocal proof, Tom still pleads not guilty in a twisted belief he can worm himself free.
He foolishly thinks he can still win. Having failed at manipulating Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler), and even Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) eventually, he has to change tactics to get some support in his corner. He needs to get uncle Jimmy (Nick Miles) back onside.
So he turns to manipulating another young, vulnerable woman.
Angelica (Rebecca Bakes) is consumed by the idea that evil is in her blood and makes contact with Tom in prison. He sees this as a fresh opportunity and jumps at it, charming her in the way that’s always worked for him in the past.
It works again, and Angel is now preoccupied thinking about him in prison. She is his new pawn to get Jimmy back onside.
Jimmy has so far refused to read a letter Tom has sent, but Tom convinces Angelica to fight his corner and encourage her dad to read his words. Jimmy for once isn’t as daft as he looks and realises his daughter has fallen under Tom’s spell.
He decides there’s nothing for it except to go to the source to stop this nonsense – which plays right into Tom’s hands.
Master manipulator Tom immediately turns on the waterworks and appeals to Jimmy’s sensitive nature, but he pushes it too far when he turns the blame back on Belle.
Jimmy immediately sees his mistake and tells Tom in no uncertain terms that he’ll get no help from Jimmy if he doesn’t change his plea.
Ollie later approaches Angel on Tom’s behalf with a task for her. Angel is happy to do whatever she is told, and on Ollie’s say so, uploads a video which she thinks will help Tom’s cause.
Jimmy and Nicola have no clue until it’s already gone live, and Angel has no idea what she’s just done.
Could Angelica be the key to collapsing the case against Tom?
