Emmerdale’s DS Foy has become a hit with fans – and it seems he could be set to strike up a romance with a surprise villager
Emmerdale fans are certain they know who soap newcomer DS Foy will strike up a romance with.
The copper, played by Robert Cavanah, made his debut earlier this year, amid the harrowing domestic abuse storyline involving Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King (James Chase).
Fans have watched in horror over the past year and a half as Tom made Belle’s life hell, gaslighting her and controlling her every move.
One incident saw Belle attack Tom with an axe in self-defence. And despite being hesitant at first, Belle reported Tom to the police for his abuse over the past few months, revealing the truth to DS Foy – who was determined to help Belle and expose Tom’s sick crimes.
However, it wasn’t as plain sailing as the pair had hoped. Thinking he was able to get away with it, Tom was quick to dispose of his tablet, which contained incriminating evidence.
But this week, justice finally came calling for Tom – much to the delight of soap fans. Tom was arrested and put behind bars after the police managed to find the evidence on the tablet.
What’s more, it’s fair to say Robert’s stint as DS Foy has gone down a treat with fans – who are insistent that he be made a full-time character on the long-running ITV soap.
And now, fans have ‘worked out’ who he could strike up a romance within the village. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “How about DS Foy and Manpreet as a couple?”
Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) is the village general practitioner and made her debut in 2018. Someone else agreed and taking to the comments section, they penned: “Aww I think they are suited and would make a good couple.” A third wrote: “I would love to see that I would.”
Robert Cavanah, who brings DS Foy to life, isn’t new to Emmerdale fans; he previously graced the show as Ian Chamberlain, Val Pollard’s fling, from January to April 2014.
The seasoned actor, Robert, has a rich TV history, including a stint as Tommy in EastEnders back in 2004, roles in BBC’s Doctors, The Royal, and even shared the screen with Angelina Jolie in the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider sequel.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
