Former couple grows closer in grief as Coronation Street confirms funeral scenes

Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) reconnects with Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, but whether she actually feels any genuine feelings towards him is another thing entirely as she gets to work on a revenge plan.

When these scenes air, Leanne will be aware Nick is continuing his affair with Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor). She told Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) that she’s going to act like a true Battersby and won’t be taken like a fool where her sister and former partner are concerned.

So, Leanne takes the first steps in her revenge by finding Toyah’s passport and uploading the photo page onto a website. In the week, after watching an oblivious Nick fix the Christmas lights, Leanne heads to the solicitors for Les’ (Bruce Jones) will reading.

There, Nick comforts Leanne, leaving Toyah to watch and feel awkward.

While in the Bistro, as Leanne prepares for the wake, Nick talks about his solo holiday plans, noting that Sam (Jude Riordan) can’t come because he can’t get the time off school.

After the funeral, the group gathers for the wake, where Nick gives Leanne a comforting hug.

Her plan then leads her to speaking with Mrs Crawshaw about Sam’s time off, so he’s able to join Nick on his holiday without any knowledge.

Leanne’s clearly up to something – but will her plot work?

‘It’s just the pits for her!’, star Jane Danson said.

‘She was over the first time to a point. Leanne knows that she did make some bad decisions, and although she didn’t agree with what Toyah and Nick did, she can understand why it might have happened. She loves Toyah so much that she was prepared to forgive her.

‘So, to find out that their affair is continuing – basically, she’s at the end of her rope. Toyah has kind of taken out her whole life from Leanne and she resents that hugely. It’s great to play out!’

She added: ‘he’s playing with them both. She’s making Nick feel even more guilty, and almost trying to get a confession out of him. When she really makes a play for him and he still doesn’t cave, she’s like, “right, I’ll show you both!”‘.
