Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) will be left reeling in Hollyoaks next month when she discovers that Abe Fielding (Tyler Conti) has been lying to her about his mum Marie’s (Rita Simons) supposed demise.
Marie, as viewers know, was seriously injured during the motorcycle incident just prior to the one-year time jump, with Abe telling Cleo – who was driving the motorbike – that she killed his mum.
Cleo was subsequently locked in a dark room in the flat by the abuser, who has held her captive for over a year.
Abe has gone out of his way to make it look like Cleo is in Bali to throw her loved ones off the scent and he’s now engaged to marry Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell).
In upcoming scenes, Cleo enjoys a crafting hour with Abe but they’re interrupted by Peri, who reckons that she and her fiancé should move in together.
Abe is short-tempered with her and Cleo picks up on his mood, wanting to know why he’s being distant. Having told Cleo that he broke up with Peri, the abuser claims that Peri is hassling him.
Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed), meanwhile, calls Abe and surprises him with an impromptu stag do, inviting Peri over so that the two can make amends.
Whether or not they do remains to be seen but Abe subsequently stumbles back into the flat drunk, whispering that he loves Peri. Cleo is shocked by what she hears but the bigger shock comes later – when Abe gets a call from Marie!
Cleo is horrified to learn that Abe has been lying to her this whole time about Marie’s fate and that her captor’s mum is still very much alive.
The nurse wastes little time in coming up with a plan and Abe is subsequently woken up by her throwing up.
When quizzed on the subject, Cleo says that she’s relapsed. Later, she reveals that she’s blacked out following a pain in her arm – the very same pain she had when she had a heart attack on her wedding day.
Cleo tells Abe that her eating disorder is back – and claims that it’s been back for months. She tells Abe that if he ever loved her then he’ll let her die happy and thus will agree to marry her tomorrow.
It’s clear that Cleo is planning revenge, as teased in Hollyoaks’ Winter Trailer, but will she manage to secure her freedom? And will Abe finally pay for his crimes?
Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 7am on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
