Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine shares surprising fact about I’m A Celeb’s Alan Halsall

Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz on the cobbles, appeared on This Morning to talk about her co-star Alan Halsall on I’m A Celebrity

Coronation Street favourite Jennie McAlpine has revealed an unexpected fact about her co-star Alan Halsall during a chat on This Morning.

Alan, 42, famed for his role as Tyrone Dobbs and currently on I’m A Celebrity, was the topic of conversation when Jennie, who portrays Fiz Brown and is herself a former jungle contestant from 2017, joined This Morning live from the iconic Rovers Return Inn.

Host Dermot O’Leary quizzed Jennie about whether she had any concerns for Alan’s stint in the jungle, asking if he’s more of a homebody, to which she replied: “A homebody but also not nervous at all, no I wasn’t.”

She added with certainty: “I knew he’d be great, he is what you see, I knew he’d get on with people that’s what you’ve got to do when you’re there, get on with people, muck in.

“He is a homebody, he loves his home comforts but he is a bit of an adrenaline junkie. In his older age now he does less of it but back in the day he did. I think he would have loved a skydive or something similar. Anything a bit scary, he’s alright with!”, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile, Claire Sweeney, who plays Alan’s on-screen mother Cassie Plummer, hinted at more surprises from the actor during her appearance on Good Morning Britain’s Friday episode.

She commented: “Isn’t he wonderful? I know Maureen Lipman came on here and she said he’ll start off quietly just watch and observe and then he’ll come forward. That’s what he’ll do, he’s brilliant Alan, he’s such a funny guy. He’s smart, he’s sensitive, he’s a really brilliant personality.”

When Kate Garraway expressed curiosity about whether ITV audiences had truly seen the real Alan, Claire was quick to highlight his previous performance: “In the first episode he wasn’t quiet because he had the big trial with Tulisa and he really shone in that didn’t he? He’s sitting back at the moment. I think he will, he needs more airtime.”

Prior to his jungle adventure, Alan disclosed his greatest phobias, conceding: “I’m not scared of anything at home but if you were to put ten snakes on my head, I don’t know how I would feel about that as clearly I’ve never been in that situation before!”

Taking on the jungle challenge, he expressed: “This is something I have always shied away from in the past. You are never going to get me on the ice, dancing isn’t my thing and this will be much harder than filming a scene in Corrie.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is on ITV1 and ITVX.
