Emmerdale viewers were left distracted during Monday’s episode as they spotted a striking connection between two villagers during a bitter family reunion.
Emmerdale viewers witnessed a tense Milligan family reunion on Monday (November 18), but it was far from a joyous occasion. Steph Milligan, played by Georgia Jay, recently arrived in the village with her sights set on her inheritance money left by her late grandmother Helen Fox, portrayed by Sharon Maughan.
Businessman Caleb, played by William Ash, knew about Steph’s presence, but his wife Ruby, played by Beth Cordingly, was oblivious to her estranged daughter’s return – until now. The drama unfolded when Steph agreed to meet her father for coffee at her parents’ house while discussing her inheritance.
A nervous Caleb questioned Steph about whether she had read his letters over the years. Steph was hesitant to delve into her past, but the situation escalated when Ruby entered and saw her daughter for the first time in over a decade.
Ruby demanded answers from Steph, leading to a heated argument. Accusations flew as Steph claimed Ruby never loved her, was cold towards her and sent her to a hated boarding school when she needed her mother most.
Ruby attempted to justify her actions, explaining that after Steph stole a car at 14, she needed discipline. However, her explanations fell on deaf ears, culminating in a fierce argument that ended with Ruby slapping her daughter, reports Leeds Live.
Despite the intense family reunion and ensuing drama on Emmerdale, viewers were left distracted by the striking resemblance between Ruby star Beth Cordingly and Steph actor Georgia Jay. One fan took to Twitter, writing: “Emmerdale ATE with the casting of Steph, she looks soooooo similar to Ruby #emmerdale.” (sic)
Another echoed this sentiment, stating: “Steph and Ruby are so alike #emmerdale.” While a third agreed: “Ruby and Steph are so alike!! #Emmerdale.” (sic)
One viewer praised the show’s casting, saying: “They have absolutely nailed the casting of Steph as Ruby’s daughter. #Emmerdale”, while another added: “Gotta say the casting team got it spot on with Steph, she’s like Ruby’s twin #Emmerdale”. (sic)
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
