Coronation Street fans admitted to being ‘thrown’ after spotting a specific detail featuring Becky McDonald as the beloved character was seen in the latest episode of ‘Classic Corrie’.
Actress Katherine Kelly ruffled feathers when she arrived in Weatherfield as Becky Granger back in 2006. She starred in the ITV soap for six years after initially only being contracted to appear for three months.
Her time on the soap was jam-packed with a fair amount of drama as Becky became the third wife of Steve McDonald, before divorcing him and splitting up Steve and his ex Tracy Barlow on their wedding day.
But Corrie viewers also warmed to Becky thanks to her relationship with Hayley and Roy Cropper, who had taken her under their wing. It was then in 2012 the Becky was last seen, emigrating to Barbados with her new partner Danny Stratton.
Becky has now returned to the forefront of some fans of the ITV soap’s minds after her latest appearance in ‘Classic Corrie’. In a clip posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, she could be seen in the Rovers Return alongside Lloyd Mullaney and Kelly Crabtree.
Alongside the clip of the throwback scene, @VanitySwarla asked: “I’m confused… Becky saying she has four brothers?!” While fans know Becky has a sister, Kyle Platt, who died in tragic scenes on the Street in 2016, in the scene, Becky was talking about football and said she ‘”didn’t have a choice” to be interested in the sport with her dad and four brothers.
@Sam_LFC23 replied: “I assume this is before she was fully established and Kylie was invented. Which was the better option.” @DirtyOlScrubber commented: “Yeah but also Becky was kinda low-key a liar at this point. She was probably just saying it to make conversation.”

@pk8tbg7v7x echoed: “This was her evil era she was probably just lying to be fair.” But there was another detail that took fans by surprise – the smoking in the pub.
The scenes will have aired prior to when smoking in enclosed public places, including pubs, became illegal in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland on July 1, 2007. @graceedaviess added: “I’m more thrown by the smoking in the pub, that ages it.”
It comes after Becky was mentioned during a recent episode of Corrie. As her nephew Max Turner faced prison for arson, Becky offered for him to run and go to Barbados to be with her, but before that could happen, the police caught Max and he’s since been sentence to six and a half years behind bars.
But the mention of Becky did get fans feeling nostalgic and demanding her in-person return. @98kltk said: “Becky McDonald mention in 2025, omg bring her back #corrie.” @Wee_Westie29 echoed: “A Becky mention.
