BBC EastEnders Sharon Watts’ secret sibling twist ‘exposed’ – and fans are divided

EastEnders fans are convinced that Sharon Watts is set to discover that she has another sister – and that she is already living in Walford

EastEnders viewers are abuzz with the theory that Sharon Watts might soon uncover she has an additional sister – and she’s right under her nose in Walford.

Devotees of the BBC drama are well-versed in Sharon’s (portrayed by Letitia Dean) family tree, which includes four half-brothers: Dennis Rickman, Kristopher Hanley, Jonathan Hanley, and Zack Hudson (played by James Farrar), as well as two half-sisters, Vicki Fowler and Diane Hanley.

Yet, a number of sharp-eyed viewers have speculated about another familial revelation potentially awaiting the beloved character.

Nicola Mitchell, brought to life by Laura Doddington, set foot in Albert Square last year and quickly became embroiled in conflict with Sharon, who was romantically involved with Nicola’s former spouse Teddy Mitchell (Roland Monookian).

The tension escalated this week when Nicola discovered Sharon’s affair with her old flame Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp). In a further twist, Zack recently uncovered that he is the biological father of Nicola and Teddy’s teenage son Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman), reports Plymouth Live.

Amidst the entangled relations, speculation is rife that Sharon and Nicola could be outed as siblings.

Eager fans took to social media to voice their hunches. One viewer confidently declared: “Nicola is Sharon’s sister.”

Another contemplated the implications of past storylines, saying: “Considering Zack and Nicola had a fling and Zack is Sharon’s brother I hope they don’t do this.”

A third observer drew comparisons between the characters’ appearances: “Honestly think this will happen, Look at photos of Sharon from 20+ years ago and she looked exactly like Nicola does know.”

Adding to the intrigue, it’s been officially announced that Sharon’s half-sister Vicki (Alice Haig) is slated for a comeback to Albert Square later in the year.

It’s been two decades since Vicki last graced Walford, and she’s not returning solo. Accompanying her is her new beau Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) and his son Joel (Max Murray).

Born to teenage mother Michelle Fowler and Dirty Den Watts, Vicki’s existence has been riddled with turmoil from the outset. However, since departing the Square in 2004, she’s resided in Australia with her long-term partner Spencer Moon, where they managed a bar.

So, when she reappears in Walford with a fresh love interest, it delivers quite a jolt to her sister Sharon and Spencer’s brother Alfie, who were oblivious to their breakup.

Nonetheless, it swiftly becomes evident that Vicki is committed to Ross, and the pair are eager to integrate themselves into her E20 family.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am
