Michelle Hardwick has played the role of Vanessa Woodfield since her debut in 2012
Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick felt relief as she declared “thank goodness” after filming the Woolpack showdown with Mary Goskirk.
Michelle Hardwick has played the role of Vanessa Woodfield since her debut in 2012 when she was hired by Rhona Goskirk, an old friend from university, to work as a locum.
Since joining the Dales, Vanessa found herself in a relationship with Charity Dingle, where fans lovingly label them as “Vanity” together. However, the pair were constantly facing ups and downs before eventually splitting up when Charity kissed Mackenzie Boyd – who she’s now married to.
Soon, Suzy Merton made her way into the village and she struck up a relationship with Vanessa. Things seemed to be going well for the couple until Suzy tragically died in the Valentine’s limo crash.
As Vanessa grieved her death, she soon found out that Suzy had been unfaithful right before the accident happened. Vanessa had gone through Suzy’s texts to Leyla when looking for a picture and stumbled across Suzy saying she wanted to end things with her after she’d kissed someone else.

Determined to find out who the other woman was, Vanessa set out to look for answers. Later, she found Mary’s bracelet under the sofa and realised that she was the culprit.
Heading into the Woolpack with Rhona by her side, Vanessa confronted Mary in front of everyone, who had no choice but to admit it. Although she tried to defend her actions as “just one kiss” a distraught Vanessa threw a drink over her before leaving in tears.

Taking to her Instagram, Michelle reposted the clip of her throwing the drink and wrote the caption: “Thank goodness this was one take”.
Louise Jameson (Mary) also commented on the scene after it aired, as she tweeted: “That was quite a day’s filming”. Fans responded in support as @SoHoDane98 penned: “Loving this current storyline !!! You’re fabulous”.

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
