Emmerdale star lets slip what happened to Nate after finding out who killed him

Nate Robinson – played by Jurell Carter – had disappeared on Emmerdale last year but his body was found beneath a lake by Amy Wyatt on the ITV soap opera recently

Former Emmerdale cast member Jurell Carter has now teased over his character Nate Robinson’s death as viewers wait to find out what really happened to him.

Jurell, 33, played Nate on the ITV show from 2019 until his departure last year. The character was thought to have left the village for a new job but some fans were suspicious that something had happened to him as viewers didn’t actually see him leave. Loved ones like Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) have since tried to contact Nate and been unsuccessful.

Last month though, a body was spotted in a lake by Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) following the fatal limo crash. Then shortly before her own death, Amy tried to tell her husband Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) that she had seen Nate underneath the water but he misheard her. There’s since been speculation over what happened to Nate, with several suspects already identified in his apparent murder.

Speaking to Digital Spy whilst promoting his role in the play Boys from the Blackstuff, former cast member Jurell has now teased that he had been aware of Nate’s fate months ago. He expressed excitement over fans finding it all out.

Asked if he knows who killed Nate, the actor said: “Yes, I know.” He added that he “wouldn’t say anything” though because it gives the storyline “more weight and power”. He said: “When the unravelling does come about, it’s just going to be massive.” He teased that it’s “amazing,” before saying that he believes viewers will be “gripped to their seats”.

Jurell said: “Basically, I was told a little while beforehand about the plan for Nate.” He recalled having a meeting with producer Sophie Roper and being told the storylines that connected to his exit, which gave him “goosebumps”.

Further teasing what to expect, he said: “This is just the start of the unravelling.” He went on to confirm that it was Nate who Amy had spotted beneath the frozen lake after she fell into the water. Jurell added that he’s “really excited” for fans to find out what happened to his character on the show.

During the interview, Jurell also told the outlet that knowing it was the end for his character was “sad” but also gave him “more reason just to go full force to the pedal” with projects outside of Emmerdale. He teased that finding out there was “no option” for a “potential return” led to him thinking that he needed to go “full steam ahead” with other roles.
