Manpreet Sharma has been receiving unwanted messages from an unknown number and there was another twist in the blackmailing storyline during the latest Emmerdale episode
Emmerdale fans are convinced they know who’s blackmailing Manpreet Sharma – and it’s not Billy Fletcher or Ella Forster.
Manpreet recently confined in her colleague Ella that she was being blackmailed after posting photos of herself online and joining a subscription website.
After opening up, Ella encouraged her to delete her account but just seconds after deactivating the blackmailer text again saying: “Deleting your profile won’t make a difference” as they sent screenshots of her account, adding: “One word to the police and everyone will know your secret.”
During Thursday night’s (March 12) episode, viewers watched Billy turn to Manpreet’s subscription site after being turned down by his wife Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromely).
However, the website had been deactivated and Billy was unable to access her racy snaps, leaving fans ruling him out as Manpreet’s blackmailer.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Ooh! So Billy has been lusting after Manpreet cos Dawn is not putting out! But he is not the blackmailer, cos he looked disappointed the page had been shut down. #emmerdale.”
Another added: “So is it supposed to be Billy blackmailing Manpreet .. I hope not #emmerdale.” A third person said: “Billy is blackmailing Manpreet? surely not.”
Soap watchers have been left suspicious of Ella, especially due to her criminal past, but other viewers have pointed out that all of the texts so far were sent while Ella was sat next to Manpreet, seemingly ruling her out of blackmail.
Talking about the dramatic storyline on Wednesday’s This Morning, soap expert Sharon Marshall teased: “So I can confirm it is somebody in the village… a few little twist and turns coming up on that one!”
Social media is currently buzzing with theories over the mystery blackmailer with fans certain that Wendy Posner (Susan Cookson), Manpreet’s former workmate who left the village under the cloud of being blackmailed herself earlier this year, is behind it all.
One viewer theorised: “I think Manpreet blackmailer is another victim of blackmail. I think it’s Wendy trying to get back at the surgery!” prompting others to echo the name.
However, others think it could be Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) as it was recently revealed that she is strapped for cash and on Wednesday night she walked past Manpreet’s lunch with Ella.
One viewer speculated: “Tracey who needs money”, while another chimed in with: “I think Tracey too. Wendy’s left now and I doubt she would do that it’s someone desperate for cash” and yet another suggested: “Tracy. She knows about that type of work and she needs the cash.”
