The Max Turner actor left fans in tears with his exit from the long-running show as his on-screen parents were among those to respond
Coronation Street star Paddy Bever has left fans in tears with his exit from the long-running show as his on-screen parents were among those to respond to his goodbye message.
While it was no secret that the actor was bowing out of the ITV soap after joining in 2021 as the new face of David Platt’s step-son, Max Turner, it wasn’t until Wednesday night’s (March 12) trip to Weatherfield that Max’s final scenes aired.
As fans already know, Max found himself behind bars again, this time for starting the fire that saw the Platts’ beloved family home destroyed. In scenes aired in February, a rag soaked in petrol was posted through the house’s front door along with some lit matches.
The teenager almost lost his life in the blaze after becoming trapped inside having gone back in the burning building with Shona Platt in a bid to find Lily Platt.
Luckily, he made a recovery but only to be arrested after he was revealed to have started the fire in an attempted an insurance job to help his step-dad pay back gangster Harvey Gaskell after he started to target them.
In scenes aired last month, the judge revealed that Max would be spending six and a half years behind bars. He was left shocked by the outcome and called out to David, who was in the public gallery, for support. Due to Harvey’s threats, Max has been moved to a prison in Scotland.
During his last appearance in Corrie, Max was seen speaking to David on the phone from his new prison in Scotland after he has to move due to threats from Harvey.
Telling him how it is, Max said: “Fine, better than I expected to be honest. You can stop worrying. I’m fine, I just haven’t heard anything about Harvey which is good so hopefully that’s all sorted.”
David was prevented from sharing details of what’s really been happening at home since Max’s imprisonment, with the hairdresser planning his own death in a bid to end Harvey’s threats once and for all.
After speaking with younger sister, Lily, Max told David: “It’s fine. I’m not going to pretend it’s nice in here, but it’s OK. I’m OK, I’m good. And I’m going to keep my head down and get through it.” David replied: “That’s really good that Max. I’m glad to hear it. I love you Max,” to which Max said back: “I love you, too, Dad. Right, na-night.”

Following his final scenes, Corrie shared a video of Paddy sharing a short but sweet message to sign off his time on the Cobbles and Paula Lane, who played his mum Kylie Platt in the show and now stars in Emmerdale, was among those to respond.
She simply said: “Go fly son,” alongside a red heart emoji. On his own exit post shared to his own Instagram page, Jack P Shepherd, who is famed for playing Weatherfield’s David, said: “HE’S MY SON!”
Julia Goulding, who plays Max’s step-mum Shona Platt, was also quick to respond, writing: “I won’t pretend I’m not heartbroken to see you go but I’m excited to see you fly! Love you Paddington you absolute star!”
Fans, meanwhile, were emotional. @paddy.beverfans said: “Omg I’m crying again my heart, i will miss paddy so much.” @422monalisa commented: “You will be missed. Wishing you every happiness and success in your future endeavours..”
