Coronation Street fans are forecasting a love affair between Mary Taylor and an unexpected resident of the cobbles. .

Mary, portrayed by Patti Clare, has been a constant presence on the soap since 2008, evolving into one of the programme’s most cherished and iconic characters. As the much-loved florist of the cobbles, she’s been involved in numerous major storylines.

Her time in Weatherfield, from her multiple unsuccessful romances to the shocking revelation that she gave birth to a son at the age of fourteen, has been anything but drama-free.

Currently, on the renowned street, she’s feeling neglected following the return of Julie Carp, played by Katy Cavanagh. Fans will remember that Julie returned to the cobbles this year for her sister Eileen Grimshaw’s exit storyline, portrayed by Sue Cleaver.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers have shared their theory that she could begin a romance with none other than Jason Grimshaw, played by Ryan Thomas, who is also making a comeback.

Jason’s come back to Coronation Street was confirmed this month, with Ryan Thomas expressing, “I’m going to step onto the cobbles for five minutes”. He also proudly shared, “I’m very loyal to where I came from. Corrie is where my career started.

“They taught me everything I know. I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for the show. That place will always have my respect,” he continued.

Nevertheless, fans are speculating over a potential new love story for Jason and Mary upon his return. One viewer speculated: “I wonder if he’ll bring a new girlfriend with him?”.
