EastEnders’ latest episode saw Nicola Mitchell confess that her ex-husband Teddy Mitchell caused the death of missing Shireen on the BBC soap, but perhaps there’s another twist

There was a killer twist on EastEnders on Wednesday night, as a murderer was unveiled.

In a dark twist Teddy Mitchell was announced to be a secret killer, with his ex Nicola Mitchell tearfully claiming he had a dark past. Not only that but she boldly claimed to Zack Hudson and Sharon Watts that Teddy was a man not to be messed with, and was “a killer”.

With their son Harry Mitchell’s ex Shireen still missing after she vanished four years ago, there’s a shocking update next week with two characters accused over her presumed killing. But before the scenes air, a new twist was revealed on Wednesday that could change everything.

Harry arrived with dad Teddy and brother Barney last year, and shortly after it emerged he had been questioned by police over Shireen going missing. Accused by her family of murdering her, Harry was once again protesting his innocence.

Since then the plot has been ignored, until spoilers revealed that next week her brother Asafd would head to Walford. Not only will he back Harry’s innocence, but he outright accuses his parents Nicola and Teddy of being behind Shireen’s vanishing act.

Prior to that, Wednesday’s episode saw Nicola warning Zack about spilling the beans over Barney’s true parentage. Zack had found out he was Barney’s real dad, and he and Sharon soon confronted Nicola wanting to tell his son the truth.

But Nicola blurted out that if Teddy found out he was not Barney’s father, he would turn killer once more. Nicola claimed Barney changed Teddy for the better, making him a better person.

She then claimed Teddy was a murderer and that if Zack told him the truth, he’d “end up like Shireen”. As Zack looked confused, Nicola told him and Sharon to look up what happened to her, before claiming it was down to Teddy.

Claiming Teddy “has slept soundly for years” despite a dark past, she alluded that he had killed Shireen and that if Zack or Sharon exposed her lie about Barney, all three of them would be next. But is Nicola telling the truth, and did Teddy really kill his future daughter-in-law, and why?

Nicola suggested that Shireen caused issues for the family, and was silenced. But given spoilers will see Nicola hiding her own secrets and she’ll be accused over the death, will the truth come out and what if Nicola is more involved than she’s claimed?

One fan posted: “I think Nicola is definitely lying regarding what she said about Teddy. We know Nicola has contacts and she’d throw Teddy under the bus if it meant protecting her family and saving her own skin.” Another said: “Did Teddy really do that to Shireen or was it Nicola?”
