Coronation Street fans realise where they’ve seen newcomer Theo before as arrival date confirmed

Fans have been talking about Theo as he was revealed as the new love interest of Todd Grimshaw

Coronation Street fans have been flooding social media with posts as they were quick to realise where they had seen one of the show’s newcomers before.

It was announced on Sunday (March 9) that the ITV soap is set to welcome a trio of new arrivals to the famous Street after a number of exits were confirmed at the start of the year.

Carl Webster, James Bailey and new arrival Theo Silverton have plenty of family ties and more than enough history to bring fresh drama and conflict to some of our most well loved residents.

And it’s Theo who has quickly caught fans’ attention – thanks to the actor who plays him. Working close by as a scaffolder, the new character first gets on the wrong side of both Julie Carp and then George Shuttleworth before Todd Grimsahw helps him to patch things up with the locals.

There’s an instant attraction from Todd but with Theo playing his cards close to his chest, has Todd finally found his Mr Right? Playing Theo is James Cartwright, who is a regular in the world’s longest running soap The Archers and has won a Royal Television Society Award for Best Leading Actor for his performance as Johnny in BBC’s production – Johnny Shakespeare.

He has said of Corrie’s newest character, who arrives on-screen on March 25: “I think Theo is a good guy, he comes in with the best of intentions, as most people do, but he may upset some people with his behaviour.”

But it’s James’ role in a children’s TV favourite that has been getting Corrie fans talking – despite him being the son of famous playwright and screenwriter Jim Cartwright, who is famed for his play ROAD and Little Voice.

In response to the casting news, one said: “Buzzing to see James Cartwright from The Story of Tracy Beaker head to Weatherfield #Corrie.” Another commented: “Nathan from Tracy Beaker and Dexter from 4occ omg? Jason will fit in perfectly had the pleasure of working with him for years and he’s a lovely guy. #Corrie.”

A third echoed: “tracy beaker nathan and thingy from 4 o clock club bruh.” Another fan posted: “Just realised the one the right played Nathan in Tracy Beaker.” A fourth wrote: “Not THEE Nathan from Tracy Beaker being cast in Corrie.” A fan also added: “NATHAN FROM TRACY BEAKER OMGGGGGGGGG.”
