Emmerdale fans are worried there is more to Sarah Sugden’s pregnancy news after spoilers revealed it would be a false alarm amid her health troubles on the ITV soap
There could be worrying scenes on the way on Emmerdale if a new theory is proven to be correct.
Viewers think there is more to the Sarah Sugden baby plot, after it was revealed she would learn she is pregnant. New spoilers for next week however have confirmed it is a false alarm.
Sarah is told at the doctors that she is not actually pregnant, despite the test being positive. While many viewers have suspected this is a false reading down to her health issues, some viewers believe that a new diagnosis could be on the way for the character.
Long time viewers of the show will know that Sarah was diagnosed with Fanconi Anaemia when she was a child. The condition is a rare, life-limiting genetic disorder that has led to health issues for Sarah all her life.
Sarah has often shared her fears over her life-limiting illness, fearing she will never get to have the life that her friends could have. As a youngster she developed leukaemia and was seriously ill and a few years later she was diagnosed with throat cancer and had to undergo treatment.
Her health issues didn’t end there though and sadly after years of treatment, she was diagnosed with heart failure as a teenager and had to undergo a transplant. Sarah continues to take medication to this day.

Now, some fans wondered whether her baby bombshell was linked to a new storyline. There is the possibility the false positive test is down to her medical conditions and her medication.
But a new theory suggested it could be a false reading due to something going on with her body. One suggestion was that it could be cancer, as some fans believed there had to be a reason for the storyline given it would turn out to be a false result.
One theory read online about the storyline and the new spoilers: “Will it be something health related? I know men who read positive on pregnancy tests often test positive for prostate cancer, so I wonder whether there is something similar for women.
“Like maybe it’s early onset menopause? Or some sort of cancer? Or something related to her anaemia in some way? Seems a bit silly to have a ‘false scare’ storyline with her of all people, because it’s a non-story. It must be leading to something.”
Another fan noted: “Corrie had a false positive pregnancy that ended up being cervical cancer, but it is also possible they just give her a false positive for a bit of relationship/family drama and no real health effect.” As one fan suggested: “Not pregnant after all false test due to her illness,” a further comment read: “It is possible it could be something else.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
