Emmerdale fans were left heartbroken after Amy Wyatt was killed off in heartbreaking scenes
Emmerdale actress Natalie Jamieson has opened up about her tragic exit from the ITV soap – as well as what the future holds for the soap icon.
In heartbreaking scenes aired last month, as Amy lay in the hospital bed, she whispered “I love you” to Matty Barton before tragically dying.
The village stalwart succomed to her injuries after the limo Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was driving plummeted into the frozen lake. However, while trapped underneath the ice, Amy discovered another body in the water – Nate Robinson’s (Jurrell Carter).
Amy tried to tell Matty about Nate’s body before she died, but whether he heard her or not remains a mystery.

Ever since Amy discovered the body, fans have been sharing their own theories about how Nate got there and who killed him.
Names thrown into the mix are John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) and Caleb Milligan (Will Ash). And even though Amy does not know how the scenes will play out, she explained in an exclusive interview that she always “looks for the clues”.
Before she found out it was Nate’s body in the water, the actress said she had already “figured it out” because of the bracelet he was wearing on his wrist.

In the scenes leading up to her exit, Natalie said she was “drip-fed bits of information” to “try and keep things secret”.
She explained: “But I knew, obviously, about the crash and that I was going to be going under the water, and what I knew at that point as well was about the adoption storyline and Frankie, and Frankie making me the bracelet and stuff like that.
“And then when I heard another body was under there, my little cogs were turning, and I’m just like little Miss Marple, and I was like, ‘it’ll be Nate’ because Frankie’s made Amy a bracelet. So, I figured that out straight away.”
When addressing who could have killed Nate, Natalie teased that it could be a new character heading into the village while agreeing that fans could be right about John.

She continued: “I always look at the clues like I did with the bracelet, so we have to look at the clues.
“So that sounds like a good clue for the John thing [and that he was the last person to see Nate alive]. Just keep looking for clues. I think they put clues back further than you think.”
“It could be a new character or something as well,” Natalie teased. “They’re always adding new people into the mix. But then they’ve just said that there’s a new bad boy character coming in, haven’t they?”

After spending six years on the soap, Natalie admitted she feels “nervous” but is very excited about the future.
She shared, “I’ve been playing the same character for six years, which as an actor hardly ever happens. We’re kind of used to chopping and changing a lot.
“So I’m really excited to play another character again, but a bit nervous as well. I feel like, ‘Oh, how can I play a character that’s not Amy, I only know how to play Amy’.
“But I’m sure as soon as the right thing comes along, like, obviously, that’ll change. But yeah, I’m very excited and a little bit nervous as well.”
Emmerdale is available to watch on ITVX.
