Coronation Street fans have only just clocked on that Izzy Armstrong actress Cherylee Houston is married to a famous face – but they’ve both had stints on the cobbles

Corrie fans have been left floored after realising Izzy Armstrong, portrayed by Cherylee Houston, has a celeb other half that’s caught everyone off-guard.

Cherylee, who became a staple on the ITV soap as Kirk Sunderland’s (Andy Whyment) sweetheart since 2010, has won hearts as the Underworld worker Izzy. Her Corrie journey is peppered with epic plotlines – from falling for Gary (Mikey North) to landing behind bars for a 60-day stretch.

But off-screen, it’s her personal life now grabbing headlines. Little did fans know, Cherylee’s real-life hubby is actor Toby Hadoke. He’s no stranger to TV himself, with credits in Emmerdale, Shameless, and even a spot in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights.

Moreover, Toby runs XS Malarkey, a comedy hub in Manchester, reports Leicestershire Live. Adding a twist to their tale, in 2021, Toby popped up right on Corrie’s set beside Cherylee herself.

Portraying her neighbour Fergus, he came across as fiercely protective of Izzy in the pandemic storyline, shedding light on the harsh reality disabled individuals faced during the crisis.

Toby couldn’t help but rave about his talented wife: “She’s great as well. She’s such a good actor. I think it’s forgotten because she’s so brilliant at bringing attention to the importance of disability representation, she’s really good.”

Toby’s face might just ring a bell for Corrie fans, as this isn’t his first rodeo on the cobbles. “If you delve into the archives you know, I once married Curly Watts. I was a vicar,” he reminisced about his previous stint.

He went on to say: “They wanted a young vicar at Curly Watts’ wedding. If you go back it was about 747 years ago. That was just a one-off.”

But it’s not just old episodes that have got fans talking; a recent buzz on a Corrie Facebook fan page has seen fans expressing their astonishment over Cherylee and Toby’s off-screen romance. Spotted beneath a snap of the couple, one fan puzzled: “How come I recognise him?” Another clued in: “Toby Hafoka! He’s an actor/writer/standup comedian.”

A third fan, clearly taken aback, added: “I remember him from Corrie I think, didn’t know at the time they were together.” And yet another shared their revelation: “Same! Think he was in Hollyoaks as well.”
