EastEnders fans ‘rumble’ identity of Tommy’s friend – and it’s bad news for Kat

EastEnders viewers think there’s more to Tommy Moon’s ‘friend’ after Monday’s episode of the BBC soap saw him speaking about a mystery online pal to Kat and Alfie

There could be a sinister storyline on the way for Tommy Moon on EastEnders.

Ahead of him being reunited with his parents Kat Slater and Tommy Moon, after being removed from the family home due to his abuse towards his family members, there could be more trouble ahead. A scene that aired on the BBC soap on Monday night has left fans sure there’s more to a new storyline.

Tommy was shown speaking with Alfie and others about a friend of his that he was keen to form a support group with. He told Alfie that the mystery person encouraged him to help a friend in need, and soon Alfie wanted to help.

Kat and Alfie told Tommy they were proud of him, and Alfie pushed forward with a lads night with Zack Hudson after Tommy’s comments about a support group for those in need. But as Tommy continued to speak online, some viewers got “bad vibes”.

Something about the scenes after Tommy’s recent troubles left fans convinced there was more to what he was doing. Some viewers questioned if he was back to his manipulative ways, as others believed they knew who Tommy might actually have been talking to.

Viewers speculated online that Tommy could be at risk of radicalisation, fearing he was speaking to people on online forums that were no good for him. Others wondered if he’d wanted to seem transformed to his parents when actually he’s out to get them, amid a looming outburst from the troubled teenager.

Taking to social media one fan guessed of the ‘friend’: “My guess is they’re gonna make him into a radicalisation victim.” Another fan said: “I still get very bad vibes from Tommy. I think the online forums he’s on are darker than he’s making out,” as a third replied to this comment saying: “Agreed. He’s hiding something.:

A further theory read: “I wish they showed Tommy in anger management and his growth into becoming a better person because this character change makes no sense. I suspect a radicalisation storyline.”

Other fans suspected Tommy was making the friend up, with him tipped to become a much darker character like a former Walford resident. One viewer said: “Tommy and Kat are definitely the next Dot and Nick.”

A second comment read: “Tommy giving me Nasty Nick vibes, knows what to say and when to say it to pull the wool over peoples eyes.” This was echoed by another post that read: “Tommy creeps me out. Sonny is doing an excellent job as I suspect that’s the idea lol.”

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
