Emmerdale aired some super dramatic scenes with plenty of bombshells teased recently on the ITV soap, so here’s what fans can expect from the coming weeks and months

There could be huge scenes ahead on Emmerdale after some telling revelations and moments in recent episodes of the ITV soap.

We’ve just lost three popular characters to a devastating limo crash, an accident that led to the discovery of Nate Robinson’s secret murder. Spoilers and reports have hinted at what’s ahead in the village, while the big stunt week no doubt taught fans anything can happen.

So what is in store for our favourite residents this spring and beyond? There’s some inevitable storylines on the way, and some big fallouts no doubt to the twists about to occur in the village. More than one character is hiding something.

Affairs could be exposed, lies might be rumbled and exits are said to be on the cards. We might have more deaths on our hands too, and some of the events of the New Year flashforwards are also set to air. Here’s a look at what could hit the village in the coming weeks and months…

Nate’s body found and killer exposed

Nate Robinson was secretly killed off, with his death thought to have aired in September. He simply left the village and cut off contact with his family, starting a new job and a new life in Shetland.

Except he didn’t, and someone killed him before dumping his body in a lake. His killer is yet to be revealed, as well as a motive and the full details on what happened to Nate.

His body was discovered under the water by Amy Wyatt, but tragically she died before she could tell anyone. He remains undiscovered, but for how long? At some point it is very likely his body will be found and his death will be revealed.

Might the funeral in the flashforward with Cain Dingle be for Cain’s son Nate? We’re banking on there being clues and a reveal of the killer too, with the true events of when Nate died set to be revealed.

Caleb dies?

Another flashforward scene that has not yet aired is peril for Caleb Miligan. The character was shown flatlining in hospital with a possible death teased.

So what happens to Caleb? All will be revealed in scenes this year when an event, not yet known, results in him fighting for his life. At some point soon we will find out what is wrong with Caleb that will lead to a hospital dash, while his fate will not be confirmed until the time comes.

Fans have speculated it could be his brother Cain’s doing amid their feud, while others think it could be linked to Anthony Fox’s murder, John Sugden or Joe Tate. Viewers will have to stay tuned!

Character exits

It’s soap land, and we’ve already had multiple exits this year so we’re expecting more ahead. We know according to reports that Eric Pollard’s partner Brenda Walker is leaving the show and this has yet to be teased or addressed onscreen.

So will she leave in sad circumstances? With Joe Tate up to no good and facing death, will he also be leaving the show at some point this year? Then there’s the funeral we mentioned with Cain. If this isn’t Nate’s funeral, it could mean someone else is set to be killed off.

Affair exposed

Speaking of Joe being up to no good, he’s currently enjoying an on/off affair with Dawn Taylor. With their fling set to continue despite already calling it off once, surely it’s only a matter of time before Dawn’s partner Billy Fletcher finds out the truth?

After all, the walls are closing in on the pair thanks to Charity Dingle, Lydia Dingle and Kim Tate doing some digging. Is Dawn about to destroy her marriage and her family by sticking with Joe? And will there be any other affairs rocking the village this year?

Joe Tate’s secret revealed

Back to Joe, and he’s hiding something huge. Only this week did we find out he was ill and possibly dying. He seemed to confirm with his mystery doctor that he was terminally ill, and that he did not have a lot of time left.

We’ve had weeks of Joe collapsing, suffering medical episodes and taking medication. We also know he was behind the drugging of his brother Noah Dingle, with a flashback showing him there and commenting that they needed to hurry up.

A recent scene appeared to show him having treatment, with there being a black case containing mystery contents. Now fans are sure he is really sick and possibly terminally ill, with a death on the cards unless he gets the treatment he needs.

Speaking of which, fans believe he needs an organ donation to live and that this is his secret plan. All will be revealed soon!

Lies unravel

Joe’s wicked ways isn’t the only lie set to be exposed to the village soon. There’s three secrets set to come out just days away according to spoilers, with Mary Goskirk, Manpreet Sharma and Tracy Robinson all seemingly hiding something.

Manpreet has been hiding mystery text messages, and we’re set to find out what that’s all about amid speculation she’s messaging her killer sister Meena Jutla. Then there’s Mary, who is hiding something she feels guilty about from before the limo crash.

Tracy’s scene is a mystery, and the spoiler only hints that she too has something to hide as she flashes back to the night of the crash. So what are they hiding? There’s likely to be more lies simmering across the year too!

A love triangle?

One thing teased to be on the way is a love triangle, while this isn’t exactly unheard of in the village. Amid Sarah Sugden’s romance trouble with Jacob Gallagher and a possible pregnancy, a newcomer could leave Sarah intrigued.

It was revealed this week that later this month new boy Kammy will bring drama to the Dales. Sarah appears to be keen on Kammy, “going back to her Dingle roots” as she gets to know him – but is it all over for Sarah and Jacob?
