Coronation Street has revealed the truth behind the horror hit and run which will see David Platt fighting for his life in a dramatic new trailer.

It has already been revealed that a car will plough into David on the street, but he won’t be the only victim as a pregnant Daisy Midgeley is also caught in the speeding vehicle’s path.

David, played by Jack P Shepherd since 2000, will first be seen rushing to court, leaving his son Max Turner flooded with relief to see his dad. With Shona Platt and Lauren Bolton also in the gallery, the judge sentences Max for arson after he set fire to the family’s beloved home.

Taking into account the family element of the crime, will Max be shown some leniency? But it seems David was in a hurry to get to the court because while locking up the salon, former prison mate Andy Garland arrived brandishing a knife, explaining that Harvey wants him dead in order to get his hands on his life insurance.

Later, Shona senses David’s worries and assures him that together they’ll find a way out of their current mess, but David masks his turmoil. Nick and Sarah meet with David in the pub and are concerned to see him knocking back vodka at lunchtime.

Then, when a drunk David stumbles into the road, Shona arrives just in time to see a car hurtling towards David. Suddenly, Daisy appears and the car ploughs into both David and Daisy. Having heard the crash, Nick Tilsley, Sarah Platt, Daniel Osbourne, Jenny Connor and DC Kit fly out of the Rovers to find David and Daisy seriously injured.

A new trailer released by ITV on Friday (February 28) has now shared more details about what’s to come with David and Rob Donovan at the centre of the action on the cobbles next month.

David’s guilt about son Max facing a lengthy jail sentence for setting fire to the Platt’s home leads to him making the dramatic decision to take his own life, by hiring a hitman to mow him down.

The trailer shows the shocking moment that Shona sees David hit by a speeding car and left for dead at the end of the Street, but as we know, David sadly it isn’t only victim with Daisy also caught in the crossfire, however, she isn’t seen in the trailer and what happens next remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Corrie fans will also discover that after Rob wasn’t killed in his fall at the warehouse, he will return to the cobbles to seek out his sister Carla and demand she helps him escape.
