Fans think they have spotted the return of ‘classic’ Coronation Street as they predicted an all-out war between two of the show’s most recognisable stars.

Cassie Plummer’s life has been seen falling apart in front of her eyes after Ken Barlow discovered what had really been going on right under his nose.

As viewers of the ITV soap are aware, Claire Sweeney joined the Corrie cast as Cassie the daughter of Evelyn Plummer and long-lost mum of Tyrone Dobbs, back in Spring 2023.

After her surprise entrance into her family’s lives, Cassie found herself in the fold at No.1 Coronation Street, having become Ken’s carer after he fell down the stairs and fractured his pelvis. But when he eventually decided it was time to let her go, Cassie took drastic action and was seen spiking Ken’s drinks.

Things then took a dramatic turn when Ken was rushed to hospital, but Cassie escaped when Tracy Barlow was blamed for mixing up Ken’s medication which she dropped on the floor.

Cassie has since changed to spiking the Weatherfield stalwart with antihistamines while she continues to get closer to him and has also been making expensive purchases with his credit card..

During Wednesday night’s (February 26) Corrie, Cassie made up excuses to not let Ken look at his own account after his card got declined during a trip to the local shop.

But Ken didn’t seem too happy and got Cassie to go back to the shop instead while she insisted he not look at the laptop. Later on, Cassie made them both a cup of tea, but when she put them down, Ken switched the mugs and asked her to drink.

When she was hesitant, he revealed he knew what she had been up to and told her their was no point in denying it. Ken eventually kicked her out but after Cassie left, he gasped for breathe and clung onto his chest as he collapsed in his chair before he was found by daughter Tracy and rushed to hospital.

At the hospital, the family were told that Ken had a heart attack and will need a stent fitted immediately. Once Ken woke up, he told everyone exactly what Cassie had done. Back at home, she was trying to get away but having been delayed by granddaughter Hope Stape, she left the ouse only to be confronted by Tracy.

Tracy didn’t hold back as she grabbed cassie by the hair before the police soon arrived and broke the pair up. Cassie we then arrested Cassie for drugging Ken, leaving Tracy delighed.

And fans were quick to brand it a return to the classic days of Corrie. @zookeeper333 said: “About time and well in Tracy and let’s hope Ken makes a speedy recovery.” @am5419jh commented: “Tracey at her best! Knew she still had it in her.” @nancyhovhanesian wrote: “Tracy was at her best…Cassie was great.”
