Is Caleb leaving Emmerdale? Soap future ‘sealed’ for Will Ash amid new storyline

Will Ash’s Emmerdale character Caleb Miligan is at the centre of a big storyline on the ITV soap following the death of Anthony and the discovery of Nate’s body

Whilst the men of Emmerdale managed to get out of the limo crash unscathed, there is more drama ahead.

The limo crash led to the death of three people – Suzy, Leyla and Amy – but in tragic scenes, a body was also found at the bottom of the lake and had been there for a while. Nate’s body was seen at the bottom of the lake by viewers but Amy died before being able to explain the full extent of what she saw when she plunged into the icy cold water.

There is also the case of what happened to Anthony. He was killed by Ruby and Caleb helped to cover up the murder, but John and Aaron also had a hand in it, with John dumping the body. Others including Chas and Cain are also in on the secret.

As rumours swirl about who killed Nate, it has been suggested by some that Caleb could have been responsible for Nate’s shock death – but is Will Ash leaving the soap, or is he planning on staying in the Dales?

Warning that Caleb would do anything to protect his wife Ruby, Will told us: “He’d put his life on the line for her and to keep the secret from Steph. It’s too painful for that to get out. It’s painful enough for Caleb and Ruby.

“They’re just papering over the cracks. It’s inevitable that it’s going to get out. Without a doubt Caleb would take the blame. He didn’t see that Ruby was carrying this secret and wasn’t able to say it, but he feels gutted that he didn’t know anything.”

Not much has been revealed about Caleb’s future in Emmerdale but we know if he does leave, we will see scenes of Caleb on a ventilator. A special set of flashforward clips aired on New Year’s – and whilst some have come to fruition, we have yet to see exactly what caused Caleb to be on a ventilator. Some thought it would be the limo crash – but, of course, now we know that isn’t the case.

Elsewhere, Caleb’s brother Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley has spoken about his own future.

“I’m worried all the time! Not all the time, that’s a little bit over the top,” he said, “Every time there’s news of this it can unsettle us as a cast because we know the shelf life of characters is not forever in soaps, and it’s down to the producers or the writers to steer the ship and take us in the direction they want to take us.”
