It comes as she recovers from her recent kidney transplant and being kidnapped by her own brother
Coronation Street fans have been left confused by one particular detail as Carla Connor recovers from her recent kidney transplant and being kidnapped by her own brother.
The Underworld factory boss has had quite a dramatic start to the year. Carla’s was in decline in scenes aired in January as she was rushed to hospital with sepsis.
She was informed by a doctor she’d have to undergo a kidney transplant, having first had one after her half-brother Aidan donated the organ back in 2018.
It was later Rob, who is behind bars for the 2008 murder of Tina McIntyre, who came to Carla’s rescue and earlier this month, fans horrified at the start of the week when Carla was woken from her recovery after undergoing a kidney transplant by prison officer Mandy.
As viewers were already aware, Rob was plotting his prison escape following the op, with Mandy’s help as they were revealed to be in a relationship.
She sprung into action after Rob woke from the transplant op and was paid a visit by DS Lisa Swain, who confirmed she would not go ahead with their deal to get his murder conviction overturned, despite giving Rob ‘insurance’ in the form of an audio recording confirming her plans.
Furious with Lisa, Rob set about executing another plan, which saw the prison officer and Rob’s secret partner Mandy sneak into Carla’s hospital room, put her in a wheelchair and say she’d use her gun if Carla didn’t comply with her demands.

Mandy put Carla in another room and said they’d wait for Rob, who was seen in Lisa’s car after stealing another officer’s clothes and sneaking out of the hospital himself. He ended up attacking Lisa as he realised she was attempting to make a phone call.
Rob eventually made it to the room where Mandy and Carla were waiting. He was shocked to find out about Mandy’s pregnancy and realising she had been used, she left. Rob attempted to follow suit. But Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs and a weakened Rob as a result of his surgery saw him fall over the balcony, with Lisa finding him at the bottom.
Lisa declared Rob dead and prioritised getting Carla back to the hospital. But when Kit Green returned to the scene, he was told Rob has gone. Carla is now back at home after the ordeal but things still aren’t plain sailing for Carla and her family as Rob’s still on the run.
But amidst all the drama, some Corrie fans can’t quite see past the iconic character’s living arrangements. @anniecarr1949 said: “I am fascinated by Carla’s two-bedroom apartment. It’s like Eileen’s Tardis house. Carla/Lisa, Betsy, Ryan and looks like Bobby is moving back in. She’d need 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms at this rate.”

And they weren’t the only one thinking about it. @mclarenstella46 replied: “We said that today.” @gardeniaquirkycollectables commented: “Yes l thought exactly that. Also, Ken Barlow’s house must be just as elastic!”
But @sarahawalker_ pointed out: “Yeah Ryan moved out as Lisa moved in over Christmas as Ryan was staying on her sofa it was said when Rob came back on the scene that he and Bobby moved out, that’s why we haven’t seen much of them around her flat and it just being Lisa and Carla/Betsy.”
It comes after spoilers hinted at Rob’s return to the cobbles. According to spoilers for next week, Carla insists on returning to work, but her brother is never far away as Betsy Swain draws her attention to a news report on the radio about a sighting of Rob Donovan in the Brighton area.
Carla hopes they catch him soon, however, when she returns home to find the door open and signs that someone has been in the flat, she wonders if Rob is closer to home than has been suggested.
