Coronation Street fans ‘calling it’ as they ‘work out’ Craig Tinker’s shock exit from Weatherfield

It comes after actor Colson Smith confirmed he’d received his final scripts

Coronation Street fans have said they are ‘calling it’ as they believe they have ‘worked out’ how Craig Tinker will leave Weatherfield after the actor confirmed he’d received his final scripts.

Fans of the ITV soap will know that Colson Smith confirmed his upcoming exit from the ITV soap after almost 14 years in the role of the young schoolboy-turned-police officer.

The 26-year-old revealed how he was told last autumn he was being let go from the cast as part of a shake-up on the Street, with new producer Kate Brooks confirming his character had reached the end of the road following the exit of his on-screen mum Beth Tinker, played by actress Lisa George.

In a social media post, shared to X and Instagram alongside a picture of himself portraying Craig as a police officer, he announced: “Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker’s time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. I’ve loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world.”

He added: “I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. I’ve learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy.”

Fans have since speculated about how Craig could come to leave Weatherfield behind and now some think it could be a drastic end for the police officer.

Sharing a story which reports Rob Donovan will cause terror on the Cobbles after he escapes prison and leave someone dead, @TheConnorSwains commented: “I’m calling it now…..Craig is a goner! #Swarla #Corrie.” @Swarla_Fan replied: “Yes!! Hadn’t thought of that, but you’re so right! I’m backing this theory 100%.”

However, others pointed out that Rob’s escape had already taken place and that it was DS Lisa Swain he almost bludgeoned to death before a dramatic confrontation with his sister Carla Connor.

But with Rob now on the run, some think the story is far from over as @swain_r00ney added: “The final face off will be Lisa getting hurt to save Carla, Rob get Carla and Betsy the 2 ppl Lisa would die for, she hunts them down with Kit n Craig Somehow in the mist of it all Lisa gets shot protecting Carla, then another bang but this time it’s Craig #swarlia #Corrie.”

revealed how he’s received and read his last scripts. Speaking on the new episode of the On the Sofa podcast, which he co-hosts with fellow Corrie star Jack P Shepherd and Nick Tilsley, Colson said: “It feels very real.

“I think it’s that bit of, I didn’t realise how big of a deal it was, actually getting your last scripts and reading it. It’s quite a lot to process and go through, but I’m excited for the work, I’m excited to play the exit, really, I just want it to happen in a weird way.”

Ben then asked: “Are you saying that before you kind of had it in your head that it’s going to go, but seeing it in black and white is the bit where you thought, ‘Oh, I’ve got X amounts of weeks left, this is it…'” Colson admitted: “I’m like, ‘Ok, I’m into the last stretch now, I’ve got four or five weeks and then I’m twiddling my thumbs playing Football Manager’.”
