Fans of the ITV soap were gutted when Mason Radcliffe died after being involved in a knife attack
Coronation Street has issued an apology to fans after bringing back a character following their tragic death earlier in the year. Fans of the ITV soap were gutted when Mason Radcliffe died after being involved in a knife attack.
The teen, played by actor Luca Toolan, had his life cut heartbreakingly short as he died after being stabbed by his brothers Logan and Matty after they set upon him and his pal, Dylan Wilson.
Mason was trying to turn things around after he was eventually served justice for his cruel bullying campaign against Liam Connor last year. But he struggled to escape his brothers who arrived on the cobbles to cause not just havoc for him but other residents on the street.
Before his death, Corrie viewers saw Mason agree to help DS Lisa Swain who showed him photographs taken at the crime scene of her late partner Becky’s death and revealed that his brothers were behind the murder.
He set about helping her and after getting his brothers questioned, he prepared to leave having accepted a job offer from Stu Carpenter in Germany.
However, as he asked Dylan for help in searching his brothers’ flat for a box of photographs for him to take with him, they were caught by the troubled pair and chased through the precinct.
Viewers then discovered Mason bleeding before it was revealed that Liam had brought the knife he’d been hiding for months in a bid to help save Mason. Scared, he threatened Matty and Logan, only for Logan to take the knife and as Mason jumped to Liam’s defence, Matty pushed his younger sibling in Logan’s direction and right into the zombie knife. He later died from his injuries.

But fans may have thought there was some hope it wasn’t all as it seemed as Luca joined co-star Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain, for a social media video in which he asked her a number of quick fire questions so fans could get to know her better.
Predicting what fans may think of Luca being involved in the video, the caption of the post read: “Get to know Sydney Martin (and sorry no, Luca isn’t back, this was filmed on his last day. Rip Mason) #Corrie @sydneymartin._ @lucatoolan @itv.”
But fans were still quick to respond as they showed their support for Luca and his character. @plbatch56 said: “The writers could have gotten a lot of mileage out of these two as a couple, shame.” @__carlyanne wrote: “Aw, I’m gonna miss Mason.”
@yasmin_xx20 commented: “Love these guys. Bring back mason please.” @seekyrocks replied: “These two have a connection that would have been tv gold if the Corrie writers did not killed off Mason. I hope these two get to act together again in the future.” @lucy.zoey.daisy.grandmabecca added: “Love you two together – wish Betsy & Mason could’ve had a happy ever after.”
