Coronation Street star Cait Fitton has spoken out on her co-star’s exit for the first time in a ‘tearful’ admission. The actress was taking part in a social media Q&A when she was quizzed on Paddy Bever’s show exit.

Fans of the ITV soap will best know the pair for playing Lauren Bolton and Max Turner. Paddy took over the role of David Platt’s step-son Max Turner from Harry McDermott, who played the role from 2010 but left to continue with his acting studies and explore other opportunities, in a re-casting back in 2021.

Meanwhile, Cait was recently at the core of a shock storyline when her teenage character went missing after being abused by Joel Deering for months.

The major storyline came after the actress, 22, made her Corrie debut in late 2022 as the wayward character. Then, months after being involved in Max Turner’s far-right storyline, she was thrown in turmoil as her ITV alter-ego was abused by solicitor Joel.

But as it’s already been confirmed, Max will soon be seen bowing out of Weatherfield in the spring after Paddy made the ‘difficult decision’ to call time on his soap role after four years.

The 22-year-old said in a statement to the Mirror: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities.

“I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.” He continued: “It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.”

In a new Q&A she took part in on her Instagram Story on Monday (February 24), Cait was asked about Paddy’s upcoming exit as she shared her emotional thoughts for the first time.

One of her followers asked: “Are you going to miss Paddy so much and do you think Max will come back?” While she didn’t hint at the future, Cait replied: “I do miss my @paddybever [face holding back tears and red heart emojis].”

Another also asked: “Do you miss working with Paddy? What was your favourite scenes you had with him?” As she shared a clip of a scene the pair shared in the aftermath of Joel’s death in Corrie, Cait commented: “This scene will always be my favourite Lax scene [crying face and broken heart emojis].”

She then added: “@paddybever oh how I miss working with you,” alongside a number of face holding back tears emoji.
