EastEnders fans sure they’ve worked Martin Fowler’s fate after dramatic episode

EastEnders viewers are on tenterhooks as they wait to discover which characters will survive the Queen Vic fire, and some think they have worked out Martin Fowler’s fate

The much-anticipated turned 40 this week and the show has been gripping viewers to the eat of their seats as a fire engulfed the Queen Vic.

The aftermath of the blaze was revealed in Wednesday 19 February’s special hour-long episode and a live episode scheduled for Thursday 20 February. The latest episode saw some residents fighting for their lives as it was revealed that not everyone would survive the pub fire following Tuesday’s shocking events.

It was unveiled that Kathy was the one who attacked Cindy. A row with Ian led to Cindy ‘accidentally’ shooting him in the arm, and another argument resulted in Cindy pushing Ian into the road and into the path of Reiss’s car.

He swerved to avoid Ian, but instead crashed into gas cans that exploded in the beloved Queen Vic. With many familiar faces from EastEnders inside celebrating Honey and Billy’s wedding at the time, fans are on tenterhooks to find out who survives and who will make their final exit from Albert Square in a hearse.

In the hour-long episode, Reiss was trapped in the rubble, Sharon was rescued by Grant, and a cliffhanger ending showed Martin ‘choosing’ Stacey over Ruby, only for a giant metal girder to fall from the ceiling, putting their happiness at risk. He heroically pushed Stacey out of the way of the falling beam, only to be crushed by it himself.

EastEnders fans were left reeling after the latest stunner of an episode, with social media exploding from viewers’ wild theories about whether Martin Fowler would bite the dust. “Is Martin going to die. And is Stacey going to tell ruby he chose her?” one user took to Twitter to air their worries, reports OK!.

Another used a dab of dark humour, tweeting, “Martin chooses Stacey then gets crushed by a steel beam,” complete with a string of giggling emojis. One anxious fan put out their guesswork: “Martin better live or I will have words. I think Martin is a red herring. I think he’ll live and someone dies in hospital,” Optimistically, yet another chimed in, “Please let Reiss be the only one deceased, we cannot lose Martin!” summarising the thoughts of many with: “You can’t tease the Martin and Stacey reunion and then put Martin’s life at risk!”

Further stirring the pot, a viewer had shared their prediction more than a full day earlier saying, “Martin will have to pick between saving Stacey or Ruby. He picks Stacey and then Ruby dies. That’s my theory.”

With the pulse-pounding soap set for a live episode where Denise faces a monumental choice – Jack or Ravi – determined by an audience poll, tensions are cresting.

Though EastEnders legends like Ross Kemp won’t be diving into the live-action, Jamie Borthwick (Jay Mitchell) is all buzzed up for the onscreen drama, riding high off his Strictly Come Dancing fame.

He boldly proclaimed: “You know what? That live episode will be a walk in the park now I’ve done Strictly, I won’t even be thinking about nerves. That won’t even be a thing. Like, ‘Oh, are we live?’ he says.

“Nothing will be scarier than dancing, doing something I don’t really know how to do, in front of millions, let alone doing something I do know how to do. I won’t even bat an eyelid. I never thought I’d be in that position, so I have to thank Strictly for that.”
