EastEnders viewers have been left stunned after discovering the real-life age gap between Priya Nandra-Hart and her on-screen daughter.
Priya, played by Sophie Khan Levy, arrived in Walford last year with daughter Avani Nandra-Hart, portrayed by Aaliyah James, as the ex-girlfriend and daughter of Ravi (Aaron Thiara).
Ravi was unaware he had a secret daughter, leaving him and the Panesar family shocked. Priya and Avani quickly caused a stir. Between the Panesar family drama and Priya’s own romantic issues, their time in the square has been anything but calm.
However, fans have shifted their focus from the characters to the actors’ ages. On a Reddit thread, one EastEnders viewer noted that Avani’s actress is actually 24, not 14 like her character.

The actress who plays Priya will turn 35 this year. One fan pondered: “Isn’t the actress that plays Avani in her 20s.”, reports the Daily Star.
Another fan posted in surprise: “Yeah she’s 24, playing a 14-year-old. Bloody mental! Especially seeing as Sophie Khan Levy (Priya) is only 11 years older than Aliyah (Avani), and Aaron Thiara (Ravi) is only 7 years older than her,” followed by two exploding head emojis.
Fans are shocked at their real-life age gap
A third viewer expressed surprise: “Bloody hell there really is only 11 years between Sophie and Aliyah. I learn something new every day!” Meanwhile, another questioned the show’s choices: “Nugget’s mum looks 20 and his sister looks 25…who does the casting here guys?”
Before stepping into her role in EastEnders as Priya, actress Sophie had already been accustomed to the limelight.
Notably, Sophie landed a part in the third series of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ portraying Florence Pandhi, as well as a stint in the BAFTA-winning BBC drama ‘The Sixth Commandment’ in the role of Gabrielle Ade.
