Phil reveals the truth.

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders’ Nicola Mitchell is set to get a shock next week, after her surprise purchase of Peggy’s.

Teddy recently made the decision to buy Peggy’s from his cousin Phil, in a bid to prove himself as a successful businessman to his son Barney.

But he soon had more pressing issues to deal with, when his other son Harry was arrested for murder and his ex-wife Nicola showed up in Walford seconds later.

Nicola immediately made a stir in Albert Square and was able to work quickly to get Harry released without charge – and get Jack suspended from duty in the process.

Teddy wasn’t happy to see Nicola again, and he told Barney that his mum had been in prison instead of Bali, and that she used to steal from him when they were married.

However, Nicola convinced Teddy into letting her stay in the basement of their house – and when he planned to meet Phil to complete the club sale, she decided to intervene.

When Teddy arrived, he found Nicola already at Peggy’s, and she revealed that she had made Phil a better offer – with the money from their divorce settlement – and was officially the new owner of Peggy’s.

Next week, Nicola remains happy about her new purchase, but Teddy, however, is less optimistic, and predicts that it will all end in tears.

He might be proved right, as when Phil gives Nicola the keys to Peggy’s, he decides to let her know that they have no staff, and that the club’s reputation has been damaged by the recent crush incident.

Nicola is left stunned by these revelations, and she begins to realise just what she has taken on by buying the club.

Later, Zack arrives for work and discovers that Nicola is his new boss. This could be dangerous, as this week it was revealed that the pair knew each other years ago, and seemingly had some sort of intimate relationship.

Zack helps Nicola out and suggests that she hires Chelsea as the bar manager. Considering that it was Chelsea’s actions that caused the crush, is this a good idea?

And will Nicola be able to make a success of Peggy’s?

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
