Emmerdale fans are fearing for Cain Dingle’s life after the soap confirmed a character will be killed off after the devastating Valentine’s Day limo crash
Jeff Hordley, the actor who portrays Cain Dingle, has expressed his concerns about his future on Emmerdale amidst the show’s dramatic Valentine’s Day storyline.
The recent limousine crash plot twist has left fans in suspense, unsure of which vehicle crashed into the icy lake and who will survive.
While the cast and crew remain tight-lipped, James Hooton, who plays Sam Dingle, hinted at the outcome, saying: “When I first read these scenes, I was really pleased to be a part of it. Sam is quite often there for the light relief so when the atmosphere goes dark it’s good to have that release of someone lighter and more comedic on hand.”
He then teased: “The way they got the limo to sink into the ice was amazing and some of the action as it goes down is truly distressing. I would not want to be stuck under that ice. Or was I?”.
Meanwhile, Jeff Hordley shared his concerns about his future on the show, stating: “I’m worried all the time! Not all the time, that’s a little bit over the top.”
He added that the cast is always aware that their characters’ shelf life is limited in soaps, and it’s up to the producers and writers to decide their fate.
Jeff, who first graced the ITV soap as Cain in 2000, has been involved in some intense plots over the years, including a tumultuous love affair with his cousin Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins.
More recently, he’s been supporting his wife Moira through her brain tumour ordeal. Thursday’s episode left viewers on the edge of their seats as Cain was arrested for Anthony Fox’s murder, a setup orchestrated by Caleb, reports the Mirror.

Following tonight’s dramatic conclusion, Emmerdale enthusiasts have been speculating about what’s next for Cain. A fan took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share their theory: “So the hand under the ice in emmerdale I’m thinking is Caleb and well see Cain save him so they’ll call a truce ? #emmerdale”.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
